Overcoating table for dft 25 - 50 µm

– zinc rich primers can form zinc salts on the surface; preferably they should not be weathered for long periods before overcoating

– an interval of several months can be allowed under clean interior exposure conditions

– in industrial or marine conditions or if a long recoat interval is required, it is recommended to apply a suitable sealer direct after the minimum recoating interval

– before overcoating visible surface contamination must be removed by high pressure water cleaning, sweep blasting or mechanical cleaning

Curing table

– SigmaZinc 102 can be applied at temperatures between 5°C and 10°C, but the curing rate will be very low

– for applications below 5°C alternative zinc rich primers are recommended: e.g. SigmaZinc 19

– adequate ventilation must be maintained during application and curing (please refer to sheet 1433 and 1434)

Worldwide availability Whilst it is always the aim of Sigma Coatings to supply the same product on a worldwide basis, slight modification of the product is sometimes necessary to comply with local or national rules/circumstances.Under these circumstances an alternative product data sheet is used.

DESCRIPTION two component high build polyamide cured recoatable epoxy coating

PRINCIPAL CHARACTERISTICS – general purpose epoxy build coat or finish in protective coating systems for steel and concrete structures exposed to atmospheric land or marine conditions

– easy application, both by airless spray and brush– cures even at temperatures down to -10°C– a high relative humidity max. 95%, during application and curing does

not influence the quality of the coating– good adhesion on most aged, sound alkyd-, chlorinated rubber- and

epoxy coatings– can be recoated with various two component and conventional coatings

even after long weathering periods– resistant to water and splash of mild chemicals– excellent durability– tough, with long term flexibility

TECTYL 506

Description

TECTYL 506 is a solvent cutback, wax base, corrosion preventive compound. The dry film is firm, amber, waxy and translucent. TECTYL 506 is excellent for long term

Protection of metallic surfaces against corrosion in either indoor or outdoor exposure and during domestic and international shipments.

Benefits Easy Application Low Cost Protection TECTYL 506 is formulated for easy application by spray, dip or brush.

TECTYL 506 is a one-coat rust preventive. The thin film provides high coverage and low cost protection.

Long Term Protection TECTYL 506 provides outstanding external protection of machinery, machinery, machine rolls, machine tools, automotive parts, dies, tubing, and spare parts. TECTYL 506 has a dielectric (insulating) strength of approximately 1000 volts per dry mil of film thickness and therefore protects electrical connections and helps prevent galvanic corrosion.

Surface Preparation The maximum performance of TECTYL 506 can only be achieved when the metal surfaces, to be protected, are clean and dry. Remove dirt, rust, scaling paint and other contaminants before applying 506.

Application Ensure Uniform consistency prior to use. Continuous stirring or thinning is generally not required. If product thickens due to cold storage or loss of solvent during use, add only aliphatic mineral spirits and only if necessary to restore consistency. Do not apply heat; fire or explosion may result. Apply at 50-95? (10-35? ) by spray, dip or brush.

Coverage The theoretical coverage is 630 sq. ft./gallon(15.4 sq. meters/liter) at the recommended dry film thickness of 1.3 mils (32.5 microns). Material losses during application will vary and must be considered when estimating job requirements.

Removal TECTYL 506 can be removed with mineral spirits or any similar petroleum solvent, vapor degreasing. TECTYL 506 can be removed from fabrics by normal dry cleaning procedures. Avoid using chlorinated or highly aromatic solvents when removing from painted surfaces as these solvent may adversely affect paint.

Caution: Combustible TECTYL 506 cures by solvent evaporation. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flames. Use with adequate ventilation. If applied to the interior of an enclosed vessel adequate ventilation is required for cure and to ensure against formation of an explosive atmosphere.
