Clause A clause is a group of words containing a subject and a verb. 5. Independ Clause An independent clause is a complete sentence. 6. Depend Clause A dependent clause is not a complete sentence. 7. Adjective Clause An adjective clause is a dependent clause that modifies a noun. It describes, identifies, or gives further information about a noun. 8. Adjective Clause An adjective clause is made up of relative pronoun (that, which, who) followed by a verb and sometimes an object. 9. Adjective Clause Use that or which for things. Use who or that for people. 10. Examples The book is mine. It is on the table. The book which/that is on the table is mine. 11. Examples I saw the man. He closed the door. I saw the man who/that closed the door. 12. Examples The girl is happy. She won the race. The girl who/that won the race is happy. 13. Examples The student is from China. He sits next to me. The student who/that sits next to me is from China. 14. Examples I thank the woman. She helps me. I thank the woman who/that helps me.
