An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to work as a Clinical nurse specialist within our Haematology service in NHS Fife. Effective assessment and management of Patients with MPN are key to this role in ensuring patients are on correct pathway. You will work closely with the Haematologists and senior nursing team in developing a nurse led service and participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings. You will also work closely with colleagues in Edinburgh.

You should be a qualified nurse with significant haematology experience with a genuine interest in working with patients who have mpn and a keen desire to develop within the service. You should have evidence of significant post registration professional practice to undertake and fulfil the key areas for this post. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced haematology nurses however we will consider staff with suitable experience of working within this area of practice who have a desire to develop and become a clinical nurse specialist. This post will be based within haematology service at Victoria Hospital; however travel to Queen Margaret Hospital will be a requirement also.

The Capacity & Flow Team is a dedicated team who provide highly skilled and professional support in directing patient flow across the acute division. Clinical site co-ordination supports patient flow to ensure timely bed availability, admission, discharge, transfer and appropriate placement of patients across Emergency and Planned Care Directorates, Scheduled and Unscheduled care and operates within the delivery of the 4 hour Emergency Access target.

This is an exciting and challenging role for an individual to make a significant contribution to the delivery of hospital site management. The clinical co-ordinator role is significant in the management of Acute beds and will work closely with primary care colleagues promoting patient flow to downstream hospitals as well as managing transfer to and from tertiary centers.

The successful candidate will be an experienced first level nurse with skills and competencies normally associated with 6 years post-registration with evidence of professional development and proven leadership experience and a focus on high standards of quality, patient centered care delivery.

This challenging post requires excellent interpersonal and decision making skills and you must be able to work autonomously and have refined and effective communication skills.

Due to promotions, we currently have some vacancies for senior charge midwives within our intrapartum department here in NHS Fife Maternity Service. We are a dynamic, progressive and really friendly team. This is a multi senior charge midwife area where we cover the service 24 hours per day. Applications may be considered on a job share basis.

The unit is modern and progressive with approximately 3500 births per year. The services include outpatient and community services, a complex care Consultant Unit and an alongside Midwife Led Unit. We are developing services in line with Best Start recommendations. We are focussing on increasing our rates of continuity of carer in the first instance. We are developing a birth at home team and already have teams established for vulnerable in pregnancy, infant nutrition and child protection.

We will encourage you with your professional development education via our dedicated clinical midwife educator and midwifery PEF. We have an extremely successful in house leadership programme and regularly encourage staff to participate in external networking.

You must be a NMC Registered Midwife, educated to degree level. In addition you should possess enthusiasm, excellent team working skills with effective communication.

This is an ideal opportunity for the professional development of a Staff Nurse who would like to enhance their management skills, take clinical lead and be dynamic within Cameron hospital.

In the absence of the Senior Management you would be expected to take a lead position, nursing the safe and effective running of the hospital whilst maintaining the high standards of patient care. In addition you would be expected to ensure a person centred approach for the patients. You are also required to be ALS trained.

We are looking to recruit an individual with a genuine interest in Evening and Overnight Community Nursing to lead our existing service within the West Division.

The post involves coordinating the Evening Service Team throughout the West Division to allow effective delivery of Out of Hours Community Nursing care.

You will deliver a high standard of care to patients in their own homes who have complex needs and provide line management and leadership to develop and support the nursing workforce within the teams.

Therefore excellent leadership skills, communication, decision making and organisational skills are essential to support continual quality improvement as well as the safe daily delivery of this service.

A flexible approach to working hours is essential to allow for the development and co-ordination of this service. The post includes weekend and overnight working.

Previous extensive community nursing experience is essential along with the ability to travel independently throughout the area covered. A nurse prescribing qualification would be advantageous but not essential as we would support the professional development of the right candidate.

A challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced Critical Care nurse, with well developed leadership, organisational and clinical skills to extend their experience and development. Applicants for this band 6 position must also have evidence of relevant professional development including a recognised critical care certificate or statement of competence.

It is essential that applicants understand and appreciate the current Fife wide perspective on critical care.

This position will be based within ICU VHK however all staff are required to be flexible and redeploy to other critical care areas as activity dictates.

This post will involve day / night rotation, weekend working and a 12.5 hour shift pattern is in operation.

The successful applicant will possess proven shift leadership skills at Band 5 level, whilst demonstrating good clinical knowledge and have enthusiasm to support change within the NHS Fife Framework, to deliver Quality, patient centred care.

Experience of work in ICU is desirable. Applicants with experience from other critical care areas will be considered.

Clinical experience of providing care to patients receiving CVVH and or CVVHD is very desirable.

You will see a large variety of physical conditions and you could be doing a respiratory assessment, seeing an orthopaedic client and supporting health promotion all in one day. This is a challenging but rewarding role and no two days are the same. Experience working with people with Learning Disabilities is not essential, but a knowledge and understanding of the needs of this client group is important.

You will have a broad range of clinical experience including Respiratory, Neurology, Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal. You will be an excellent communicator, have a high level of organisational skills and be able to demonstrate good clinical reasoning. Senior clinical fellows will work alongside Specialty trainees in Emergency Medicine from the South East Scotland training rotation. Successful applicants will work at a middle grade level on a rota which provides 24 hour middle grade cover for the department under consultant supervision. The rota will include overnight and weekend work.

The post attracts 12 PAs of which 10 will be Direct Clinical Care and 2 will be for ongoing Continuing Professional Development. These PAs can be used flexibly for ongoing training and development. All senior clinical fellows will be allocated an educational supervisor to support them in their ongoing training and facilitate appropriate training opportunities tailored to the individual’s interests and training needs. Development and maintenance of a portfolio is encouraged.

Senior clinical fellows will be involved in the initial assessment and management of patients attending the emergency department, and in supervising and supporting FY2s and GPSTs in patient management. This will involve work in all areas of the department. There will be opportunities to develop experience of observational medicine under consultant supervision and to take part in Observation ward rounds.The department includes an 8 bay resuscitation area, a 9 bay majors area, a 6 bay minors area and 2 paediatric consulting rooms. There is a dedicated Procedures room and a 6 bedded Emergency Medicine Observation Unit which admits primarily toxicology and head injury patients. There is access to electronic pathology and radiology ordering. Departmental guidelines, protocols and rotas are on the departmental intranet web pages. We perform well in key areas such as sepsis, stroke thrombolysis and compliance with the 4 hour target.

The Emergency Department has 24 hour senior doctor presence, (11 Consultant Emergency physicians 9.85 WTE) with current shop floor consultant presence daily from 0800 to 2300. We have 4 GPwSI who deliver regular sessions in evenings and at weekends. There are daily ENP sessions to help with the minors flow.

There is a co-located GP OOH service in the evenings and at weekends, allowing redirection of appropriate patients. A formal redirection policy is in operation.

There is a 24 hour ENP-led Minor Injuries Unit Located at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline which is clinically supported by the senior doctors in the Emergency Department.

The department includes an 8 bay resuscitation area, a 9 bay majors area, a 6 bay minors area and 2 paediatric consulting rooms. There is a dedicated Procedures room and a 6 bedded Emergency Medicine Observation Unit which admits primarily toxicology and head injury patients. There is access to electronic pathology and radiology ordering. Departmental guidelines, protocols and rotas are on the departmental intranet web pages. We perform well in key areas such as sepsis, stroke thrombolysis and compliance with the 4 hour target.

The Emergency Department has 24 hour senior doctor presence, (11 Consultant Emergency physicians 9.85 WTE) with current shop floor consultant presence daily from 0800 to 2300. We have 4 GPwSI who deliver regular sessions in evenings and at weekends. There are daily ENP sessions to help with the minors flow.

There is a co-located GP OOH service in the evenings and at weekends, allowing redirection of appropriate patients. A formal redirection policy is in operation.

These now well established posts support the provision of high quality patient care within the Emergency Department. It is aimed at post Foundation Year trainees who wish to broaden their clinical experience and receive excellent training in the assessment and management of the undifferentiated patient and for the post holder to develop their training and portfolio.

These posts will be appointed to for 1 year During this period, you will work for four months as an additional member of the junior tier (maximum 48 hours per week), with shop floor teaching focusing on prioritisation of workload, formulation of investigation and management plans. There will be scheduled time spent at Virtual Fracture Clinic vetting, knee clinic, and assisting on the observation ward with patient review under consultant supervision. There will be opportunities for additional experience in other specialties such as ophthalmology and ENT. It is expected that successful candidates will complete any outstanding life support courses not yet done (ie APLS/ATLS), and Study Leave time will be given for this.

In addition, one month will be spent as a supernumerary trainee (maximum 40 hours per week) in anaesthesia gaining skills in basic airway assessment and management. One month will be spent on the junior rota in Paediatrics (maximum 40 hours per week) gaining and developing skills in assessment and management of paediatric patients including venepuncture and cannulation.

The second six months will involve working on the middle grade rota. You will have allocated CPD time of 8 hours per week. There will be the option to use these CPD sessions to allow a period of secondment to another specialty within NHS Fife.

Successful applicants will be encouraged to take part in departmental audit and in delivery of teaching sessions to junior colleagues and nursing staff with consultant support. Previous postholders have presented their CPD/audits at national conferences and have been successful in obtaining posts in ACCS EM training. You will be expected to maintain an e-portfolio and undertake regular appraisal. Each clinical development fellow will be allocated a consultant educational supervisor to support their clinical and professional development.
