1.2 EXISTING SYSTEM:

The university has the semester system for its academic programs. Admission is announced in fall and spring semesters. In most faculties the admission remains open, in both semesters.

The system can be divided as under;

Advertisement:

The advertisement of the admission is published mostly in the print media. In which the criteria of eligibility for different programs is given.

Prospectus:

To get the university prospectus is practically a first step for admission. An application form is attached with it, which should be filled correctly and be sent to the concerned office before the target date. The candidates are issued a roll no slip, indicating the date and time of test and interview.

Eligibility and Test:

The candidate should be eligible for the program applied for. The criterion of the eligibilities is given in prospectus. At the due date, the test is held. The candidate should pass the test.

Result and Interview:

The list of the candidates who qualify the written test is displayed on the notice board motioning the date of interview. The interview of the candidates is held according to scheduled program. The final selection is based on the performance of candidates in written test, interview and their academic performance.

Admission Letter:

The list of the qualified students is displayed on the notice board. The admission letter is issued to the qualified candidates. In which the directions for the candidate are given, e.g. the fee structure and last date of fee submission.

1.3 PROBLEMS:

There are some problems in this existing system, that can be described as below:

Date Redundancy:

Due to no use of Internet and the computer, this problem exists in the traditional file system of the universities. The name, phone, address, and roll no or any other information can be duplicated in different files and can be mixed up.

Data Inconsistency:

Data can’t be upgraded in the existing system easily. If any info of the candidate is to be changed or upgraded, it is difficult to change it on registers, e.g. when a candidate has to change his proposed faculty, due to his roll no this problem may exists.

Data Sharing:

The data in the registers can’t be share easily to any other faculty, of a specific candidate.

1.4 PROPOSED SYSTEM:

The admission system is completely managed by the computers and there is a wide use of Internet; i.e. the best for the university. It’s also comfortable for the candidates. The system can be described as:

Advertisement:

The admission notification is published on the Internet as well as the print and electronic media. The ad is the free of mistakes, the phone numbers are correct; and the fee structure is given in the ad of all faculties.

Prospectus:

The prospectus is available online (i.e. only the criteria and the little detail of faculty) and also available at the university at reasonable price. The application form is attached in the prospectus and also available online. For online application form the candidate should send the pay order of Rs 300/- only, to the university. After this the roll no slip is issued to the candidate for the test and interview.

Eligibility and Test:

The eligibility for all the faculties is given separately online and also in the prospectus. The test is held at the university and also it is taken online at the target date.

Result And Interview:

The result of the written test is available online, and at university where the list is displayed, mentioning the date of interview. The candidates are interviewed by the faculty admission committee. The final selection is based on the performance of candidates in written test, interview and their academic performance.

Admission Letter:

The result of the interview is available online as well as the list is displayed. The admission letter is issued to the qualified candidates so that each candidate receives the letter at his mailing address.

Course Registration:

The course can be registered online and also at the university.

1.5 SCOPE:

The wide use of the Internet and computers decreases the problems like data redundancy, data inconsistency and data sharing.

The scope can be describe as:

No Data Redundancy:

In the proposed system it is difficult that data is duplicated. The specific conditions are given to the Database System, so the specific roll no can’t be duplicated.

No Data Inconsistency:

The data of the candidate can be easily upgraded in the existing system. If the info of the candidate has to change or there is any change is wanted then there is no problem to upgrade database.

Data Sharing:

The data can be easily shared to the other faculty. When the candidate has to change his applied faculty then no matter to for the operators to share it.

Saving Efforts:

The proposed system is causes the saving of time, efforts and money etc of the candidate and the university also.
