20.2 Themeritlistswillbedisplayedshowingthe percentage of the applicantsadmittedindifferentdisciplinesagainstdifferent categories on the notifieddateandtime.

20.3 All documents to be attached withthe Application Form (F-I) should beattestedbyaclass-Igazettedofficerofthegovernmentoraclass-AofficerofthisUniversityatthetimeofjoining.

20.5 MembersoftheAdmissionCommitteewill alsobe available for consultation,inperson,duringtheadmissionperiod.

21.1 Eligibility Requirements

a. HSSC Examinationi. An applicant for admission to any of

bachelor’s degree course offered bytheUniversitymustfulfillthefollowingrequirements:

ii. Heshouldhavepasseduptothelatestannual examinationwith at least 60%unadjusted marks in the examinationbased on which he seeks admission.

However,foradmissioninBSComputerScience the candidate obtained atleast 50% unadjusted marks will alsobe eligible. Marks of NCC and Hifz-e-Quran, where applicable, shall beaddedonlyfordeterminationofmeritand not towards eligibility. Roundingoff percentage figure to make it 60%(or50%incaseofadmissioninCS)willnotbeconsideredtowardseligibility.

iii. He should be a resident of the areafromwhereheseeksadmission.

iv. Heshouldmeetstandardsofphysiqueandeyesight laiddowninthemedicalcertificate.

v. Heshouldhaveappeared intheEntryTestfortherespectivesessionarrangedby theUET Lahorewith the followingcombinations: (English, Mathematics/Biology, Physics, Chemistry/ComputerScience/Statistics.)

b. Equivalent Examination Theuniversityrecognizesthefollowing

examinations as equivalent to theIntermediate (Pre-Eng.) Examinationwith Chemistry, Mathematics andPhysics of the Pakistan Boards ofIntermediateandSecondaryEducation:

i. Intermediate (Pre-Eng.) Examinationof the Board of Intermediate andSecondaryEducation,AzadKashmir.

ii. Intermediate of the Agha KhanUniversityExaminationBoard.

iii. Intermediate Examination of an HECrecognized/approvedinstitution.

iv. FSc.(Pre-medical)withMathematicsasanadditionalsubject.

v. *Cambridge Overseas Higher SchoolCertificate of Education (AdvancedLevel) with Mathematics, Physics &Chemistry.

21.3 Provisions about admission on the basis of a BSc Degree

Giventhequalificationsandrestrictionsstated below, a person is eligible for

admission to the bachelor’s degreecourses at the University based on adegreeofBachelorofScience.

i. ForadmissiontotheBSccoursesinanyengineering discipline, an applicantmusthavepassedtheBScExaminationwithPhysicsandMathematics.

ii. ApersonpossessingaBScdegreeisNOTeligibleforadmissiontoanybachelor’sdegreecourseat theuniversityunlesshehasalsopassedFSc.Pre-EngineeringExamination.

iii. To be eligible for admission on thebasisofBScdegreethecandidatemusthaveobtainedatleast60%marksbothinFScandBSc.

21.4 Gender Both male and female persons are

23.1 Category A (Punjab Province) The applicant should be a resident of

the Punjab province. The selectionandallocationofdisciplinesaremadeaccordingtomerit.

23.2 Category B (Sindh Province) The applicant should be a resident of

the Sindh province. Applications forcivil engineering are to be submittedto the Registrar of the MehranUET, Jamshoro. For electrical andmechanical engineering apply to theRegistrar of N.E.D. UET, Karachi. ThelastdateforreceiptofnominationsatUETTaxila(irrespectiveofthemodeofcommunicationorthedateofpostage)is 7 days before date of closing ofadmission.Un-filledseats(ifany)willbecancelledaftertheprescribeddateforreceipt of nominations. Nominationsandallocationofdisciplinesaremadeby the Department of Education,GovernmentofSindh,Karachi.Diplomaholdersarenoteligibletoapplyinthiscategory.

23.3 Category C (Balochistan Province) The applicant should be a resident of

theBalochistanprovince.Applicationsare to be submitted to the Secretary,DepartmentofEducation,Governmentof Balochistan, Quetta. Nominationsandallocationofdisciplinesaremadeby this Department. The last datefor receipt of nominations at UETTaxila (irrespective of the mode ofcommunicationorthedateofpostage)is 7 days before date of closing ofadmission. Unfilled seats (if any) will

becancelledaftertheprescribeddatefor receipt of nominations. Diplomaholdersarenoteligibletoapplyinthiscategory.

23.4 Category D (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province)

The applicant should be a resident ofthe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.Applications are to be submitted toRegistrar,UET,Peshawar.Nominationsandallocationofdisciplinesaremadeby the Department of Education,Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,Peshawar. The last date for receipt ofnominationsatUETTaxila(irrespectiveof the mode of communication orthe date of postage) is 7 days beforedate of closing of admission. Unfilledseats (if any) will be cancelled afterthe prescribed date for receipt ofnominations.Diplomaholdersarenoteligibletoapplyinthiscategory.

23.5 Category E1 and E2 (Azad Kashmir and KEL Area)

TheapplicantfortheAzadKashmirandKelAreaseatsshouldbeanationalofAzad Kashmir. For the seats reservedfor Azad Kashmir and Kel Area,applicationsaretobesubmittedtotheSecretary Education, Azad Jammu &Kashmir,GovernmentofMuzaffarabad.Nominations and allocation ofdisciplinesaremadebytheNominationBoard for the Azad Kashmir. 23.7 23.7 Category E4 (HEC Nominees from Baluchistan and FATA)

The applicant should be a residentof the Baluchistan province or FATA.ApplicationsaretobesubmittedtotheHigher Education Commission (HEC),Islamabad.Nominationsandallocationof disciplines are made by HEC. ThelastdateforreceiptofnominationsatUETTaxila(irrespectiveofthemodeofcommunicationorthedateofpostage)is 7 days before date of closing ofadmission. 23.8 Category E5 (FATA) The applicant should be a resident

of the Federally Administered TribalAreas (FATA). The applications are tobe submitted to the Home and TAsDepartment, Government of KhyberPakhtunkhwa, Peshawar. Nominationsand allocation of disciplines are alsomade by this department. The lastdateforreceiptofnominationsatUETTaxila (irrespective of the mode ofcommunicationorthedateofpostage)

is 7 days before date of closing ofadmission. Unfilled seats (if any) willbecancelledaftertheprescribeddatefor receipt of nominations. Diplomaholdersarenoteligibletoapplyinthiscategory.

23.9 Category F (Foreign Nationals) Applicants from category F1 to F5

are required to get their applicationssponsored by their government, andsent in triplicate to the Ministry ofFinance,Revenue,Economic,Statisticsand Privatization (Economic AffairsDivision), Government of Pakistan,Islamabad, through the Pakistan’srepresentative accredited to theircountry. The applications shouldbe accompanied by the followingdocuments:

i. Educational Certificates (attestedphotocopies)anddetailsofsyllabiandcourses of study of the examinationspassedwithEnglishtranslationiftheseareinadifferentlanguage.

ii. Domicile/NationalityCertificateiii.Passportiv. CharacterCertificatev. Health/FitnessCertificate

Information regarding the classand discipline in which admission isrequired. Nominations/Allocation ofdisciplines ismade by theMinistry ofFinance (Economic Affairs Division)Islamabad. The prescribed applicationforms may be obtained from theministry.

TheapplicantsofcategoryF6toF8arerequired to submit their applicationsthrough HEC Islamabad, Pakistan.Diploma holders are not eligible toapplyinthiscategory.

23.10 Category G (Children of Armed Forces Personnel)

ApplicationsaretobesubmittedtotheHeadquarters of the Army, Air Force,or the Navy (depending upon theservice to which the parent belongs)

23.11 Category I (Diploma Holders) The applicant should be a bonafide

resident of the Punjab province andshould have passed the relevantdiplomaexamination fromthePunjabBoard of Technical Education, Lahore.Selection and allotment of disciplinesare made according to merit. Thelists of relevant diplomas are given insection21.2.

23.12 Category J (Disable Persons) The applicant should be a resident of

PunjabProvince.TheapplicantswillhavetofurnishacertificatefromConcernedSocial Welfare, Women Developmentand Baitul Maal (Provincial Councilfor the Rehabilitation of DisabledPersons), Government of Punjab orFederalGovernment.Verificationofhisdisabilityinviewofprovidedcertificateinrelationtoengineeringeducationwillbe doneby the ChiefMedicalOfficer,UET, Taxila. The selections are madeby the University according to merit.Theblind,deafanddumbpersonsarenot eligible to apply in this category.Diploma holders are not eligible toapplyinthiscategory.

23.13 Category L (Backward Areas of Punjab) The backward areas of Punjab

include districts of Attock, Bhakkar,Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Chakwal,D.G. Khan, Jhang, Jhelum, Layyah,Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, Rahim YarKhan and Rajanpur. The applicantshould be a resident of any of these

districts.Theselectionandallocationofdisciplinesaremadeby theuniversityaccording to merit. Diploma holdersarenoteligibletoapplyinthiscategory.

23.14 Category M (Children of University Employees)

Real children of those universityemployees who have completed fiveyearsofservicebeingphysicallypresentare eligible to apply as per followingdetails.

i. The first 7 seats are allocated tothe wards of employees who wereappointed before 1993 (the inceptionofUET Taxila) for the programs beingofferedatthattime.Iftheseseatsarenotfilledduetounavailabilityofwardsof such employees, the seats shall beopen for admission of the wards ofemployeeswhowere appointed afterthe establishment of the university intheyear1993.

ii. The remaining seats of this categoryshallbeopenforalltheemployeesofUETTaxila.

iii. Theapplicantsmustfurnishwiththeirapplications a certificate from theRegistraroftheUniversityonFormF-IX(availableinRegistrar’soffice).

Theselectionismadebytheuniversityaccordingtomerit.

Note: 1. Diplomaholderswillonlybeconsidered

ifanyoftheseatsisvacantof2%quotaas fixed by PEC in the same order ofpreferenceasmentionedabove.

2. The children of those universityemployees are not eligible to applyunder this category who have beendismissed/terminated/removed fromthe university on any ground exceptmedical grounds or have left theuniversityotherthantheretirement.

3. Candidates once admitted in previoussessions under this category in theuniversity or in its affiliated instituteswill only be considered in currentsession after the exhaustion of freshcandidates,subjecttotheavailabilityofseats.Admissionwillbegrantedonthe

merit position of candidates withouttakingcareof1993bar.

23.15 Category N (Children of Graduate Engineers)

The applicant should be a resident ofthe Punjab province. The selectionandallocationofdisciplinesaremadeby the university according to merit.Applicants should furnish with theirapplications attested photocopiesof their parent’s Bachelors’ Degreein Engineering and renewed PECRegistration card. Other qualificationssuchasAMIE(Pak)arenotrecognizedfor inclusion in this category.Diplomaholdersarenoteligibletoapplyinthiscategory.

23.16 Category O (Children of University Alumni)

The applicant should be a ward ofuniversityalumni.Theapplicantshouldfurnishwithhisapplicationanattestedphotocopy of the Degree/ProvisionalCertificateofhisparentasanevidenceof the fact that he (the parent) isa graduate of this University or itsparent institution, that is, the formerUniversity College of EngineeringTaxila. The selection and allocation ofdisciplinesaremadebytheUniversityaccording to merit. Diploma holdersarenoteligibletoapplyinthiscategory.

23.17 Category Q1 (Tribal Areas of D.G. Khan)

TheapplicantshouldbearesidentoftheTribalAreasofD.G.Khan.Theselectionandallocationofdisciplinesaremadeby the University according to merit.Applicant must furnish a certificatefromtheDistrictCoordinationOfficerofDGKhanverifyingthatheisaresidentoftheTribalAreasofD.G.KhanDistrictandhisdomicileshouldalsodepictthesame.Diplomaholdersarenoteligibletoapplyinthiscategory.

23.18 Category Q2 (Tribal Areas of Rajanpur) Theapplicantshouldbearesidentofthe

TribalAreasofRajanpur.Theselectionandallocationofdisciplinesaremadeby the University according to merit.

Applicant must furnish a certificatefromtheDistrictCoordinationOfficerofRajanpurverifyingthatheisaresidentoftheTribalAreasofRajanpurDistrictandhisdomicileshouldalsodepictthesame.Diplomaholdersarenoteligibletoapplyinthiscategory.

23.19 Category T (Tehsil Taxila) The applicant should be a resident

of Tehsil Taxila. The selection andallocationofdisciplinesaremadebytheuniversityaccordingtomerit.Diplomaholdersarenoteligibletoapplyinthiscategory.

23.20 Category R (Religious Minorities) The applicant should be a resident

of Punjab and having a non-Islamicreligion.Hemusthavetoprovideavaliddocumentstatinghisreligion.Diplomaholdersarenoteligibletoapplyinthiscategory.

23.21 Category S (Partial Subsidized) The applicant should be a Pakistan

National. However, candidatesfrom Punjab province will be givenpreference over other provinces.Selection and allocation of disciplinesaremade according tomerit. The feeis partial subsidized for this category.Diploma holders are not eligible toapplyinthiscategory.

23.22 Category X (Children of Overseas Pakistanis, Partial Subsidized)

ApplicantshouldbeawardofoverseasPakistani. Selection and allocation ofdisciplinesaremadebytheUniversityaccording to merit. The fee is partialsubsidized for this category. Diplomaholdersarenoteligibletoapplyinthiscategory. The applicant is required tosubmitalongwithhisapplication:

i. A certificate on Form F-VIII (can bedownloaded from the universitywebsite) regarding his parent’semployment in a foreign countryissuedbythePakistaniEmbassyinthatcountry.

ii. A photocopy of his parent’s validresidentvisa for thatcountryattestedbythePakistaniEmbassy.

areeligible toapply.However, incaseof an orphan, he may apply on hisguardian’sdocuments.Guardiancanberealbrother,realpaternalormaternaluncle.Inthiscasefollowingadditionaldocumentsarerequired:

(i) Father’s death certificate issuedby NADRA (ii) Proof of relationshipwiththeguardian intheformofCNICof all family members and NADRAFamily Registration Certificate (FRC)highlighting the Tree structure of theapplicant (iii) Copy of Nikahnama incasetheguardianisthematernaluncleoftheapplicant.

2. Scanned / photocopied / Faxeddocuments will not be accepted.Onlyoriginalattestedcopies fromtheconcerned Pakistani embassy will beaccepted.

3. The residence permit / visa must bevalidatleastuptilltheclosingdateofsubmissionofapplications.

24.1 Examinations Considered for Merit For admission to all the bachelor’s

degree courses and determination ofmerit the following examinations areconsidered:

i. Higher Secondary School CertificateExamination (HSSC) Pre-Eng. orequivalent.

ii. BachelorofScience(BSc)orBASc.iii. DiplomaofAssociateEngineer.iv. EntryTest.

24.2 Weighted Percentage The comparative merit of applicants

24.6 Determination of Merit in case of Equal Percentage of Admission Marks

If two ormore applicants have equalpercentage of admission marks (upto three decimal places), they shallbe treated at par for the purpose ofadmission.

24.7 Merit Determined Category Wise The seats for admission to the

24.8 Transfer based on given Preferences and Merit

a. Transfer to higher preferences In case a seat in any Discipline/

Category of higher preference givenby a candidate falls vacant and he iseligible for transfer to thatDiscipline/Category on the basis of his merit,he shall be automatically transferredto that Discipline/Category. He will

have no right to retain his admissionin the Previous Discipline/Categorybecausetheseatvacatedbyhimshallbesimultaneouslyallottedtothenexteligiblecandidateonmerit.

b. Downgrading based on Preferences and Merit:

If an applicant requests in writing ontheprescribedformtodowngradehisadmission to the lower preference,hewillbeallowedtoavail this facilityonlyoncedependingonthemeritandavailabilityofseatsinthatdepartment.Further his admission will be frozensimultaneously to the downgradeddiscipline/category.

24.9 Freezing in any given Discipline and Category

If an applicant requests in writingto retain the discipline and categoryin which he has been selected foradmission on merit, then he will nothaveanyrighttoclaimhisadmissionin any other discipline and categoryofhigherorlowermeritevenifaseatfallsvacantinanydiscipline.Applicantdesiringtofreezecategory/disciplinemust have to apply in person on theprescribedformforthispurpose.

29.5 Provisional Admission On fulfillment of the obligations

He/shemayalsoallowthepaymentofduesintwoinstallments.Theremissionoflatefeefineorre-admissionfeecannotbewaivedoff if extension is not allowedbyDeanbeyondtheextensionperiod.However,theCompetentAuthoritycanwaiveofflatefeefine,ontheprovisionofspecialcase.

30.5 University dues received in favor ofstudentsunderloanschemeofNationalBank of Pakistan will be adjustedagainst his/her outstanding dues. Incase, the university has extended feeconcessiontoastudent,thesamewillnot bewithdrawn. The amount equalto fee concession will be paid to theconcerned student to enable them toreturntheamounttoNBPthemselvestoreducetheirloanliability.

30.6 Financial assistance / ScholarshipreceivedfromUEToranyotheragency/organization,thefeewillbeadjustedforhis/heroutstandingdues.Theamountwill not be refunded to the student.In case he/she has already beengranted Half/ Full fee concession for

thesaidperiod, itwillstandcancelledautomaticallyandhe/shewilldepositthefeeconcessionamount infavorofthe university or financial assistancewill be adjusted against outstandingdues. Student can avail one financialassistance/scholarshipfromanyagencyatatime.

30.7 Periods of Fees and Other Charges The Non-Recurring fee are charged

at the time of admission while therecurringfeearechargedpersemester.The hostel charges are payable forthe whole semester. Heaters are notallowedinhostelroomforallstudentsincluding new and existing students.A hostel resident found in violationof the rule by using heater in hostelroom will be fined Rs 10,000 alongwithcancellationtoofhostelresidencyfor rest of his/her studentship in theuniversity.

30.8 Securities Allkindofsecuritiesmentionedabove

remaining unclaimed for two yearsfrom the date of becoming due forrefundshall lapsetotheuniversityfortransfertotheWelfareFund.

30.9 Refund of Securitiesi. The mess security will be refunded

when a student leaves the universityor the hostel, after deduction ofoutstanding dues of the university,subjecttothesubmissionofclearance,completedinallrespects.

ii. The refundable university security,library security and hostel security,however, shall stand forfeited if astudentwithdraws fromor leaves theuniversity before completing the firstyear.

30.10 Non-payment of Fee and Charges AfineofRs.100/-perdaywillbecharged

foraperiodof10daysafterthelastdatefixedforpaymentoffeesandcharges.After that, the name of the defaulterwillbeautomaticallystuckofffromtherolls of the university and he/shewillhavetopaythere-admissionfeealongwiththefeesandfinebeforeheisre-

admitted. Application to this effectshall be submitted to the concernedDean of Faculty. However, a studentwho receives scholarship through theuniversity Treasurer may pay his/herfee and chargeswithoutfinewithin aweekof receiptof the scholarship forthecorrespondingperiod.

The students shall wear dress that ensuresmodesty,sobriety,anddignity.Thedressmustneitherbeoffensivetosocialnormsandethicalvaluesofthesocietynorinjurioustofeminine

grace and gentleness. Female students shall,preferably,wearascarfandanoverallsufficienttoconcealtheirposture.

32.1 Liability for Injury Damage and Loss: The University teaching programs

include training in its workshops andlaboratories, places of engineeringinterest, industrial concern, andconstruction jobs. The University orotherconcernsshallnotberesponsibleintheeventofaninjury,damageorlossto a student resulting fromany causewhatsoeverduringsuchtraining.

32.2 Modification of Rules and Regulations: The rules and regulations governing

various aspects of students’ life atthe University (such as discipline,admissions, examination, migrations,fees, and charges etc.) are given inthis prospectus or elsewhere as theystood at the time of its publication.Thereisnoguaranteethattheserulesandregulationswillremainunchangedthroughout a student’s stay at theUniversity; nor does it, in any wayrestrictor curtail the inherentpowersfortheUniversityauthoritiestomodifythemwhenever intheir judgmentanymodifications are called for, and toimplement the modified rules andregulations from a date which theydeemappropriate.
