The Bryan College Advanced Professional Spa Therapist program offers an unparalleled educational experience specializing in the fields of esthetics and medi-spa therapy. To graduate from the program, students must complete the following courses.

Advanced Medi-SpaFitzpatrick skin typing, Laser versus IPL, patch testing, laser hair, capillary & pigment removal, photo facials & microdermabrasion.

Anatomy Learn structure and function of each body system including bones, muscles, joints and organs. Gain ability to recognize a variety of pathologies, diseases and other conditions necessary to modify client assessment to professionally and competently treat clients.

Skin Care ILearn the structure, function, layers and appendages of the skin. Gain competence in identifying pathologies and diseases of the skin and learn how to perform lymphatic drainage. Learn fundamentals of performing facials and other various skin treatments.

Skin Care IIA continuation of Skin Care I.

Manicure & PedicureLearn to identify bones and muscles of the hands, arms, feet and legs; identify pathologies of the hand, nail, foot and skin; and learn the growth cycle of the nail. Focuses on client care, safety and hygiene through relevant practical work.

WaxingGain knowledge in the technical skill of hair removal through different professional hair removal techniques. Learn to identify the structure and function of hair, it’s growth cycle, and diseases and disorders associated with hair.

Sales & CommunicationsDevelop techniques to secure proper client relationships, develop referral business and close sales. Learn the characteristcs of top sales personnel and how to improve upon individual strengths in order to provide the skills and techniques needed for effective client service, product sales and team building within the spa industry.

Introduction to the Spa IndustryAn overview of spa associations and their role in the industry. Learn spa services, operations and departmental functions. Gain exposure to opportunities for a Professional Spa Therapist.

Introduction to BusinessLearn industry specific business practices that are required to operate a spa through ownership or management. Gain an understanding of the importance of product sales, spa operations and a successful business plan.

Relaxation MassageDesigned to administer and incorporate relaxation techniques into a variety of esthetics treatments. Comprehend how relaxation massage enhances treatments by promoting physical and emotional health and well-being.

Body TreatmentsLearn to safely and appropriately administer the principles of multiple hydrotherapy modalities. Understand specific body treatments including body aromatherapy, mud-wraps, seaweed wraps, salt glows and body scrubs.

Cosmetology & Makeup ArtistryGain basic understanding of cosmetic chemistry and regulations within the industry. Learn applications for day, evening, runway, bridal, etc.

Student Clinic & OutreachBryan College’s Student Esthetics Clinic is an integral part of the Advanced Professional Spa Therapist program. Students practice newly acquired technical and interpersonal skills in supervised clinic sessions that begin at the end of Term I.

The Student Esthetics Clinic provides students with the opportunity to develop and practice their skills through interaction with the general public. Each clinic session is supervised by a member of the Esthetics faculty, who is a qualified Esthetician, and is able to provide guidance and assistance to the student. Students will work in a clinical setting providing esthetic services on the public, such as manicures and pedicures, waxing, facials, make-up application, relaxing body massage and more.

The Outreach program provides students with unique opportunities to work with members of the community who face physical, emotional, mental, and/or socio-economic challenges to health and wellness.
