What’s coming in Adobe Prelude

Easy metadata templates Get exactly the metadata you need for post-production. Prelude lets you create custom metadata templates, so collecting key information becomes an easy and integral part of the ingest workflow.

Renaming files on ingest Set up your own filename presets to automatically rename files upon ingest so that you can search and find files more easily both during and after production.

Export rough cuts for review Share rough cuts faster by exporting directly to Adobe Media Encoder from Prelude to create review versions for easy distribution. At any point, you can also choose Send to Adobe Premiere Pro to create a sequence ready for editing.

Hover scrub thumbnails Quickly review clips in the Project panel by hover-scrubbing thumbnails—no need to open the clip to see what is there. Click the clip make it active and play it (including audio) using standard keyboard controls.

Add file metadata

Set up your template at the start of your project to ensure that all the information you need is logged for each shot.

Who uses Adobe Prelude?

Editors and assistants count on Prelude to start their projects on the right foot: ingesting and selecting shots, building assembly edits, and adding markers and comments that will speed up their editing workflows.

Photojournalists and documentary filmmakers use Prelude to quickly log, transcode, and organize field footage, and to create rough cuts with metadata.

Directors and producers rely on Prelude for adding production notes, ensuring their ideas are clearly communicated to the editor and that their material is prepped and ready for post-production.

Turn your script into metadata Working with scripts created in Adobe Story Plus, you can drag and drop scenes to link them with footage as searchable metadata. You can also create speech transcription markers via Adobe Media Encoder that allow you to search by specific words. Your script becomes meaningful metadata that flows into Adobe Premiere Pro, informing and speeding your editing. Adobe Story Plus is available as part of Creative Cloud.

Support for growing files Save time by ingesting and logging growing files. This means post-production and editing work can begin even as production continues. This is great for projects requiring a fast turnaround, such as live-to-broadcast shows. As footage is being recorded by a system such as Omneon Mediagrid or Sienna PictureReady, Prelude continues to check in to see which files have grown. Prelude then refreshes that material so you can continue to work on your footage.

Ingest files directly into selected bins Save time and get your media organized from the get-go by setting destination bins for your footage.

Sony XMPilot metadata support Ingest clips directly into Prelude with planning metadata as well as markers added during the shoot. Save time in production and make it easier to find the files you need afterwards.

Enable team collaboration with Adobe Anywhere Prelude is integrated with Adobe Anywhere, empowering virtually instant collaboration within distributed teams. Ingest and log files to remote servers so your team can get right to work, regardless of their locations. Note: Adobe Anywhere for video is available as a separate purchase and implementation.
