Day 2, in Zagreb, Friday
A morning sightseeing tour will take you through the historic Up-
per Town. See St. Mark’s Church, St. Catherine’s Church, the
Cathedral, Parliament, and the Government Palace. The rest of
the day is yours to explore the winding streets of the old town at
your own pace or perhaps take an optional excursion into the
countryside. (B)
Day 3, Zagreb – Plitvice Lakes – Split, Saturday
Head south for a visit to magnificent Plitvice Lakes National
Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy the breathtaking
scenery of this natural wonder with its 16 terraced lakes sur-
rounded by forested mountains and lush vegetation. A walking
tour takes you around several of the lower lakes. On to Split and
the port to embark on your boat. Later, gather with your fellow
“sailors” for a Welcome Reception on board. (B, WR)
Day 4, Split – Bol – Stari Grad, Sunday
Morning guided walking tour of Split shows us the historic inner
city, built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palace, a
UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. See the remnants of Split’s
Roman heritage, it’s Renaissance and Gothic structures, Jupi-
ter’s Temple, the Peristyle, and the Cathedral. Set sail towards
Bol, a small town on Island Brac, for a swim at the Golden Horn.
Enjoy the 1740-foot-long golden pebble beach, said to be the
best in Croatia. It is unique in that it changes shape and position
depending on the winds. Afterward head to Hvar, one of the
most popular islands in the Adriatic and a meeting point for the
international jet-set. The “Croatian Madeira” is also one of the
longest islands stretching along the shores of Croatia. Spend
evening and night at Stari Grad, one of the oldest towns in Eu-
rope. (B, L)
Day 5, Stari Grad – Hvar – Vis, Monday
Quick sail towards town of Hvar for a sightseeing tour featuring
the first public theatre in Europe (older than Shakespeare’s the-
atre in the UK), the Franciscan Monastery and many more histor-
ical sights. Cruise towards the Island of Vis. The town Vis, the an-
tique Issa, was founded around 397 B.C. Our tour of Vis features
the town’s waterfront. Evening at leisure. (B, L)
Day 6, Vis – Vela Luka, Tuesday
After breakfast set sail for Korcula Island, thought to be the birth-
place of the famous explorer Marco Polo. Our port of call for the
day is Vela Luka (the “big harbor”) town, dating back to pre-
historic times. After lunch onboard, disembark in Vela Luka and
depart for an afternoon ‘Korcula island tour’, featuring the visit
of the olive oil factory, Barilo ethno museum, and local winery to
taste some local wine and cheese. Return to your ship, for an
evening at leisure. (B, L)
Day 7, Vela Luka – Korcula, Wednesday
There will be some time for swimming before we continue our
cruise, heading for Korcula town. Take a walking tour through its
narrow, cobbled streets and visit the majestic Gothic Baroque
Cathedral of St. Mark. Your evening is free to discover the town
and enjoy dinner on your own at one of many local restaurants.
(B, L)
Day 8, Korcula – Mljet, Thursday
Today we set sail for Mljet Island. Mljet National Park encompasses
five types of forest, many species of birds, and two deep lakes,
Veliko Jezero (Big Lake) and Malo Jezero (Small Lake). This lovely
island was supposedly a favorite holiday spot for the Greek hero
Ulysses! Captain’s dinner with live entertainment aboard our ship
tonight. (B, L, D)
Day 9, Mljet – Dubrovnik, Friday
In the morning sail to Dubrovnik, so-called “Pearl of the Adriat-
ic”, a UNESCO World Heritage site. While in Dubrovnik, take a
walking tour of the old town and visit the Rector’s Palace and
Franciscan Monastery with its Pharmacy. The remainder of the
day is free; perhaps discover this lovely city on own. (B, L)
Day 10, depart Dubrovnik, Saturday
After breakfast, it’s time to disembark. You will be transferred to
Dubrovnik airport or your hotel. (B)
