Artists of all skill levels are welcome to join our non-instructed, live model, open studio figure drawing sessions. Please bring your own art materials. Tables and easels are available. We start with short poses and work our way to progressively longer poses throughout the session. There is an optional review and discussion at the end of each class. One model will be provided per session, male or female, according to model availability. Students must be at least 18 years old and able to provide valid ID. Your name and address will be required. Experiment with color and texture to discover the possibilities of mosaic. Mosaic a birdhouse, an 8’ terra cotta pot, a stepping stone, a frame, a decorative plate or a bowl. Floating Collage—Dimensional work with Collage PapersInstructor: Laura Lein-SvencnerThurs.—Sat., July 13—15 9:00 am—4:00 pmFee: $260.00 + $20 Supply FeeStudents will work with a variety of found and new papers to create a fresh palette. Participants will after surfaces using gesso, acrylics and stamping materials while learning about design. Through small exercises, students will discover how to loosen up as they assemble their collages on a substrate of watercolor paper. Embellishments or drawing materials will be incorporated to produce a harmonious conversation with all the elements involved. Finished work will be presented in a shadow box frame made during the workshop from a wood panel. A daily half-hour lunch break is included and students are asked to bring brown bag lunches and drinks. A snack will be provided by the instructor. $20 material fee will be collected on the first day of workshop (in addition, students are required to bring some of their own supplies. This class is designed for the beginning fiber artist who wants to learn simple methods such as applique, creative cutouts, traditional and contemporary embroidery, and other surface techniques, with an introduction on machine stitching to complete a one-of-a-kind look. Bring 3-4 of your favorite old T-shirts that you do not mind cutting, stitching, and combining to rework into your new summer favorite! Gather any favorite buttons or washable ribbon, lace, or trims you would like to work into your design or select from an assortment provided. Learn human proportions and anatomy of the human face and form, shading expression and movement. Bring a few photos to work from; experience drawing exercises using a plaster model of a head. Supply list includes graphite pencils, charcoal, kneaded eraser, white 11’ by 14’ or larger drawing pad and tracing paper to cover drawing for corrections. These additional supplies are optional, toned drawing paper, white pencils and pastels, markers, watercolor or paint with brushes.
