Senior CitizenThere is a 25% discount on some courses for citizens 60 years or over. In order to receive the discount, please send us an email and include your name and phone number, at adult.education@lcps.org. Discounts are NOT AVAILABLE on: English Learners, Business/ Career, Practical Nursing, Financial Awareness, Horticulture, Computer Technology/ Software or Trade & Industry classes.

Tuition FeesPayment is due when you register. Payments by credit card only.

RefundsA refund is automatic if the class selected has been filled or canceled. Refunds are also given if schedule changes are made by the Adult Education Office. To receive a refund, please complete the Online Refund Request Form located on our website. Refunds will be submitted via check and will take three weeks for processing. NO REFUNDS are given after the start of class.

Additional FeesSome classes may require additional fees that are paid the first night of class. Please review the course descriptions regarding these fees.

Practical Nursing Program (No senior discount available)

Practical Nursing is a 2 year program being offered by Loudoun County Public Schools - Adult Education. Application window opens December 14th, 2020– February 5th, 2021.

2021S01A - Practical Nursing (PN) I - $2,700Practical Nursing I is the first year of the two-year Practical Nursing pathway and is approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing. Class units include geriatric nursing, nursing skills, nutrition, growth and development, nursing fundamentals, administration of medication, and anatomy and physiology. There is also a 40-hour clinical experience at a long-term care facility. All students must be able to find their own transportation to clinical experiences. PN I students are eligible to take the Certified Nurse Aide exam after successful completion.

2021S02A - Practical Nursing (PN) II SEM - $3,600Prerequisite: Completion of Practical Nursing IPractical Nursing II is the second year of the two-year Practical Nursing pathway and is approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing. Labs build on the skills gained in PN I. Class units include Medical Surgical Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Maternal/Newborn Health, and Nursing Leadership. There is a 400 hour clinical component completed at a variety of healthcare settings including the hospital, physicians offices, school and community clinics and a long- term care facility.

After completing the pathway, students may apply to the Board of Nursing and sit for the NCLEX-PN licensing examination to become Licensed Practical Nurses.

Prerequisite(s) to start the Practical Nursing Program:Current Immunization RecordPPD test (done within 3 months before program starts)American Heart Association Basic Life Saving certification for healthcare professionals.

General Educational Development (GED®) Preparatory ClassesEarning your GED® credential is just a click away!Adult Education Preparatory ClassOur General Education Development Preparation classes are designed to prepare adult students, 18 and older, for the GED® High School Equivalency. Classes are designed to provide basic skills instruction for adults whose math and reading skills have been assessed at or below the GED® readiness level. A placement test is given prior to class registration to help with proper class placement.

Adult High SchoolFor students needing additional credits in order to complete their high school Standard Diploma requirements.Students should be 18 years old and older, and not currently enrolled in a high school program.

Ongoing registration is from August 12th, 2020 – February 26, 2021. A transcript from the last school attended must be presented prior to registration. All course work must be completed by June 4th, 2021.

Classes are currently held 100% online and self-paced. Therefore, students must have a computer or laptop and internet access to participate in this program. Students must virtually meet each week with their teachers (see schedule below). If classes resume for face-to-face instruction, student must attend their weekly class in-person at Park View High School in addition to progressing through independent work online. Weekly attendance is required. Students who are not meeting with their teachers weekly will not be permitted to continue their coursework and will be dropped from the program.

The Adult Education office will notify students of all program and class scheduling updates via email.
