A Message From the Director of Alternative EducationAt this time last year we weren’t sure what kind of adult education program we would be able to provide in Butte County. I am happy to report that we were able to remain open! Initially, we had students attending on an individual basis and, as things started to open up, we offered small classes for those able to attend. We plan to be fully open in August and back on track to provide a comprehensive adult program for 2021/22. Even with the limited availability of our whole program, we’ve had over 55 students pass their high school equivalency exam and over 20 students earned their high school diploma. We’ve also had a number of students complete our medical training programs, earn their certifications and find employment in the area.

With this fall semester, we’re able to bring back our popular community education classes like Watercolor Painting, Digital Photography, and our computer education & iPhone classes (pgs 5-6). And, as many businesses are trying to recover from the COVID shutdown, we are also working to rebuild and expand our programs. If you have a skill or hobby you’d like to share with others, please call our office to discuss teaching a class at Oroville Adult Education Center.

We hope to see our returning students as well as meet new ones who would like to take advantage of what we have to offer. Here’s to a new start for 2021/22!
