Adjustments to shapes & objects / creating a ride-able
vehicle
-- more advanced things to do in Second Life
Make a shape & any adjustments
Test the interesting attributes you can make:
• Physical would make this cube drop
• Temporary makes it disappear after a defined amount of time
• Phantom would let you walk though it
See the basic building printout & the animated tutorials at www.interactivelearningsolutions.net/serve
Add movement to the object
• Flexible path lets the object appear to “blow in the breeze”
• Test the different effects
Objects can give light too; just like a lamp
• Adjust the light and its intensity• To test this, click World > Sun >
Midnight to see the effect of the light most easily
Adjust an image on a “face”
• Use the Repeats / Face & Texture Offset to make adjustments of the image
• Look at the following slides for the effect of changes
Adjustments to the “face”
• You can repeat an image based on your settings
More adjustments to image location
• You can adjust the horizontal and vertical placement too

• NOTE: reduce the size of the object since you will be seated in the middle of the object
Riding vehicles / making more sophisticated vehicles
• Use arrow keys to move; use PageUp to turn over the vehicle
• Click the Stand option to get off the vehicle
• NOTE: the vehicle moves fast
• Building a complex vehicle by making and linking all the part, then making a small last object for the vehicle & copy-pasting the script into that object
NOTE: it will take time and practice to make a vehicle that meets
aesthetic criteria
