XMAS HOMEWORK

So, you thought you were having a rest this Christmas? Ha! You'll be lucky!  Keep reading and find out what I expect you to work on before we start classes again...

Basically, I'd like you to work through sections 3B and 3C of Face to Face. Here are the indications I'd like to you follow, as well as exercise keys, suggestions for writing assignments and so on.

Pages 29-30Vocabulary exercise - phrasal verbs Reading and Grammar Obviously, you won't be able to do the group activity, so just go to the pages mentioned and read about "Great ways to well-being". Ex 4 could be done as a brief writing activity if you wish. Any daring students could recordtheir answers and bring them to class in WAV or MP3 format for the whole class to listen to!If you're too shy for that, you could record your answers and listen to them yourself. Try to correct your pronunciation.

GRAMMAR - Inversion

Do exercises 5, 6 and 7 and read through the explanations on p. 125/6

The listening will have to be done as a readingactivity - see script on pages 150-151 (sections 3.3 and 3.4). Exercise 10 in the "Get ready... Get it right" section could be done as a recorded activity - again to listen toon your own or to bring to class!  Come on! Don't be shy. Now you all knoweach other, it would be great if some of you  brought a recording of yourselves for everyone to hear. (I'll accept it as an oral activity foryour F.I.S.) 

Page 32 - Section 3C

These exercises deal with euphemisms and waysof being tactful.  Once more, exercise 3 would have to be read (see script p. 151). Ex 6 KEY1a/b ...........situation B2a/b ...........situation C3a/b ...........situation A4a/b ...........situation D

Ex 8 could be done as a written exercise.
