Welcome to BCE You employ. We educate. They excel.

We’re a fully Ofsted regulated training provider in East London. For over 20 years we’ve been supporting creatives to learn, earn and achieve. Today, we have two campuses and our own creative coworking space, Creative Works. We’ve proudly partnered with some of the best-known creative brands and businesses in London, and we’d love to work with you.

About apprenticeships

A BCE apprenticeship is a programme that blends workplace experience with industry training. It’s designed to empower the next generation of creatives. Hiring an apprentice is an inexpensive way to supercharge your staff team. They work for you full-time, and get expert industry training from our professional tutors.

Creative subjects

You can hire an apprentice in these creative areas:

1. Junior Content Producer Level 3 standard

2. Digital Marketer Level 3 standard

3. Digital Marketer in Music Level 3 standard

4. Events Assistant Level 3 standard

5. Junior 2D Artist - Visual Effects (VFX) Level 4 standard

6. Music Business Assistant Level 3 standard

Candidates

Our apprentices are a mixture of ages, stages, backgrounds and qualifications. They’re all aged 16+ and have GCSE English and Maths as a minimum.

Previous apprentices include:

• Our recruitment team help you find the right candidate

• We source and screen applicants from all over London

• You’ll be sent the most suitable CVs and we help arrange interviews

Working for you

• Once hired, your apprentice will work for you full-time for 15 months

• Probation, termination and PAYE are the same as any other employee

• The apprenticeship minimum wage is £3.90ph for the first 12 months. After this, national minimum wage applies

Studying with us

Apprentices also study an apprenticeship ‘standard’ in their creative subject. This is a list of skills and competencies that the apprentice should have by the end of their programme.

At BCE, we use a mixture of models to deliver our industry training:

• Every week your apprentice needs 4.5 hours, flexibly, for online coursework

• Fortnightly, they’ll log in to an online tutorial at a set time

• Once a month they’ll attend a masterclass day with us at BCE

Employer contributionsIf you hire an apprentice aged 16-18 you’ll pay nothing towards the cost of their studying. You can also claim a £1,000 incentive from the UK government.

If you hire an apprentice aged 19+ you’ll pay 10% (£900 - £1,200) towards the cost of their studies. This is paid in 15 monthly instalments of £60 - £80 via direct debit, which is cancelled if they leave.

Levy paying companies

If your payroll is £3m+ and you have 50 or more staff, you’ll pay an apprenticeship levy. The funds in your digital account are transferred directly to us. We can support you with this.

After the apprenticeship

We have a proven track record of delivering high-quality candidates and courses. 88% of BCE apprentices stay in the creative industries and many move on to full-time employment with their apprenticeship employer. We give apprentices the real-world skills and experience they need to succeed.

Apprenticeship success stories

Tamuka Walker

Just like BCT, Tamuka Walker came from Walthamstow. His love of film and cinema started young. He was not only an avid film watcher, but an analyser of the production. Inspired by filmmakers like Tarantino, Tamuka set about finding work experience and he quickly found work on film sets and at film festivals.

Encouraged by a supportive teacher, he applied for our creative media appren ticeship. We arranged for him to do a task for an upcoming ITN apprenticeship. They were impressed and he was hired, and today he’s a successful cameraman on the ITV news.

Tom Pearce

After completing his degree at university, Tom Pearce decided the way to open the doors to his dream of working in music public relations was through an apprenticeship with BCT.

For Tom, a paid apprenticeship was a much better alternative to an unpaid internship. He completed his placement in just 11 months with Mystic Sons, an international agency specialising in music PR.

Impressed with his drive and talent, Tom accepted a full-time position at the company. His new role involves working with lots of interesting artists from different genres of music.

Savanna Laviniere

Savanna Laviniere always had a passion for events. She studied a Level 3 Travel and Tourism BTEC at college. Alongside this, she gained valuable work experience with Ticketmaster and 51st State music festival.

Savanna’s passion was clear when she joined our Social Media and Marketing mas terclass. She applied her knowledge of events to an industry brief set by our ap prenticeship employers. Her ideas and organisational skills shone, as well as her personable but profession al nature.

We arranged a week’s work experience for her with a company called Small Green Shoots. As expected, she impressed and was hired as an Events Assistant. Since then Savanna has been a valued member of their team and recently ran her own event ‘Untold’. The event mixed visual arts, music, theatre and spoken word. It was a huge success and testament to her talent.
