Description In 1992, North Sails introduced 3DL®, a revolutionary sailmaking technology that thermo-molds sails as a unitary membrane on a full-sized, reconfigurable 3-dimensional molds. Compared to a traditional sail assembled from panels of flat sailcloth, a 3DL sail stretches less for its weight, holds its shape over a wider wind range and retains its designed shape longer. 3DL sails are composed of continuous structural yarns matching the anticipated loads in the sail, laid onto a 3D mold surface and encapsulated between outer layers of film with taffeta. 3DL thermo formed laminates are vacuum bagged and heat cured to create a smooth and strong sail membrane.
Composition• 3DL MARATHON 600 features 100% high-modulus
