How will I check my grade in class?

What do I do if I am absent?Always check the class site for handouts, and assignment due dates. A student has two extra days to turn in any work assigned on a day a student was absent. If a quiz was administered on a day a student was absent, the quiz must be made up on the first day the student returns. If previously assigned work was due on the day of the absence, the work is due on the first day the student returns otherwise it is considered late and will only receive 70% credit. The attendance policy in the student handbook will be followed.Do I have to read outside of class?*An article will be assigned to read from time to time in order to get basic information or to keep current with the new trends in foods and nutrition issues.*A literacy project will be included at some time during the year. More details at a later date.

What types of writing will I do this year?

Lab Reflection Sheets will be completed for every lab in which students participate.Process Pieces will be writing pieces that go along with projects completed individually and as a group.

What is a Student Notebook?

The Student Notebook will be the three ring notebook that was listed in your supplies list filed with the filler paper. You will be expected to keep all assignments in the notebook. This will make for good reference for end of the semester exams as well as an archive of your recipes and projects from this class. Note: these projects maybe saved and revamped for college assignments. The notebook is 30% of your grade so it is in your best interest to keep it updated with the class materials and assignments. Notebook checks will happen twice every nine weeks. You will be given a table of contents sheet in order to keep track of materials.
