Tips & Tricks: Bookshelf
Keyword Searching While reading your book, you can use the
search bar above the table of contents to search by word or phrase and easily find a specific passage
![Page 8: Advanced iPad Tips and Tricks](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022061222/54c1664c4a7959ff6d8b475a/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Highlighting To highlight a passage, press and hold your
finger on the words until a magnifying glass appears, then drag the blue bars to select the text
Tap the highlight a second time to change the color (useful if you’d like to color-code your highlights) or add a note

Sharing Highlighters You can share highlighters and notes with
anyone in your class – from the home screen of the Bookshelf app, click the blue arrow next to the highlighter you want to share and select ‘Shared with Anyone’
The person you’re sharing the highlighter with should now go to the home screen on their device and click the icon at the bottom of the Collections sidebar to add your email address (the one you use to log into your Bookshelf account)
Reverse the process to subscribe to someone else’s highlights

The Pearson LearningStudio app (available for free in the App Store) is the same as your eClass, but optimized for the iPad:

Threaded Discussions It’s difficult to post responses to your
threads via Safari (the iPad’s web browser), but Pearson LearningStudio is optimized for threaded discussions and keeping you up to date with your class

Uploading Assignments to the Dropbox
iPads do not have folders for document storage like a regular computer, nor do they have USB drives for external memory sticks – this means you won’t be able to upload homework from your iPad directly to the dropbox in your student portal. Instead…
When you’re finished with an assignment (whether it be in Keynote, Pages, Numbers, or another app), click the share icon:
![Page 17: Advanced iPad Tips and Tricks](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022061222/54c1664c4a7959ff6d8b475a/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
Click ‘Send a Copy’:
You’ll then be taken to the Mail app – send the email to yourself or your instructor, then upload it to the dropbox from a regular computer
