Advanced Ministry Studies (AMS)
The Advanced Ministry Studies (AMS) is a non-accredited diploma-level programme designed primarily to further
prepare students for pastoral and vocational ministry. It requires two years full-time or four years part-time study. It
also may provide a bridge towards Bachelors-level theological studies.
AMS students are required to complete sixteen core courses and four elective courses to make up a total of
20 courses. Each course counts as 10 credits giving a minimum total of 200 credits required.

Old and New Testament Studies
Church History
Pastoral Ministry
Preaching
Missions
Other key areas of Christian Life and
Ministry
One three-hour class per week (per course).
Classes scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays – 4pm to 7 pm

Regulations:
1. The appropriate Application Form must be completed by all candidates for the AMS programme. Application Forms may be obtained from the Office of Dumisani Theological Institute or downloaded from the Dumisani website – www.dumisani.org
2. AMS applicants will normally only be considered from those who are able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of the whole field of Christian studies and the ability to conduct such study
3. AMS applicants will normally have, at least a 60% average in our CCF (the academic subjects) or similar basic studies from another institution at the same average or above
4. AMS applicants must have an interview 5. AMS applicants must have a Church Certificate 6. AMS applicants must have two Referee forms completed 7. Application Fee R500 8. Registration fee R150 per term 9. Tuition Fee – R800 per course 10. AMS applicants must furnish the following supporting documents:
a. ID document / Passport b. School Leaving Certificate,
b) Other higher education certificates, c) Passport photos – three
Original documents must be submitted for scrutiny.
