Summer is here and a reminder that we offer
electronic giving as a easy way to automate your
regular weekly offering. Electronic giving
offers convenience for individual congregation
members and provides much needed donation
consistency for our congregation.
Go to www.adventlutheran.net or use the QR code
below to set up an automatic donation plan, change
your donation plan, make a one-time donation or
view your online donation history. As you
contemplate future contributions, please consider
electronic giving.
Summer online giving
Summer has started! One of the cool places to be this summer is at church – especially on those hot days!
During this summer there is one worship service that begins at 9 a.m. Attending one service presents an op-
portunity for us all to gather as one to worship and thank God for His grace and the gifts He has given us to
share with others! This is a great opportunity to get to know members who have attended worship service at a
different time! This reminds me of the time when we worshipped as one at Archbishop Murphy’s gymnasium
during our transition to our current location.
The updated Ministry Guide should be available. This guide will let you know of the different Ministry
groups and the points of contact for each Ministry.
Vacation Bible School is not far away. A couple of reminders: volunteers are needed to ensure that the event
is successful for the children. Volunteers need to attend one of the two sessions for the Safe Haven trainings
that will occur prior to VBS. More details and information is available in the bulletin, at Advent’s website and
in the newsletter.
During these summer months as you travel and take time to refresh and renew please remember to give to the
church (time, talents and possessions)!
May God’s grace and peace be with us all!
Give Online
Online giving is a great new way to
support the ministries at Advent.

The Classics met on Wednesday, June 10, for their monthly potluck. We had 35 people in attendance. As always, lots of good food. Keith Fresonke gave us some trivia tidbits. Bill Mauge told us of some activities that are available in the area. Bill Steenis and Fred Row passed out information about possible future trips for the Classics—Ride the Duck and Chihuly Garden and Glass. We are having on-going discussions about our kitchen and the purchase of new appliances.
The Classics are taking a summer break. We will meet again on Wednesday, September 9th at 12:30 in the Fellowship Hall. Nancy Fischer will be learning the ropes to take over for me. If you have any questions/comments, please call Cindy at 425-338-5339.
Have a wonderful and safe August! Cindy Steenis 425-338-5339.

PASTORPASTORPASTOR A MESSAGE FROM OuRA MESSAGE FROM OuRA MESSAGE FROM OuR
At the end of each academic year, I would ask UW
students, “What are you looking forward to this summer?”
A common answer was, “Reading what I want to read!”
It brings to mind the phrase, “Passionate Curiosity,”
which seems to make it’s rounds in motivational speeches
and sales manager meetings. Perhaps this phrase fits best,
however, for us as a congregation, for us as people of
faith moving forward in mission in our neighborhood.
As we work our way through the Gospel of Mark this
summer, we can’t avoid Jesus calling the first disciples.
He simply said, “Follow me,” and immediately they put
away their nets, curious to see what Jesus was all about.
Jesus changed their lives into a great missional journey of
teaching, healing, learning, and loving - unlike anything
they might have imagined for themselves. Passionate
curiosity.
What is God imagining for you, for me, for Advent, for
our neighborhood, that we can’t (or won’t) imagine for
ourselves? How do we encourage questions and
passionate curiosity in our midst?
Let’s commit ourselves in the months ahead to becoming
good and curious about what God is doing here in our
community. Let’s commit ourselves to allow our
questions and the questions of those around us to lead us
beyond our sense of comfort and to escort us into
moments of uncertainty, joy, and meaning. Let’s tap into
that genius for mission that God has already blessed us
with through passionate curiosity.
What are you looking forward to this summer? I can’t
wait to hear your questions!
Peace,
The Classics Senior Group

service in the Fellowship Hall.
