One of Ireland’s heritage towns, Trim is situated on the River Boyne and once had the oldest and largest religious settlement in the country. It is dominated by Trim Castle, built by Hugh de Lacy in 1173. The largest Norman castle in Europe, it is now restored and visitors can access the grounds and keep by guided tour. The film ‘Braveheart’ was filmed here. Step back in time with a Medieval Knight of Trim. A hands-on display that lets you feel the heft of a sword, try on a closed helmet and wear chain-mail! Ireland’s largest private military collection housed in a purposed built 5000sq ft “hands on” museum.
