This is the debut album from Kasabian which is entitled ‘Kasabian’. The first thing that draws my attention to this advertisement is the main image that it shows. The figure that the advert shows us is unclear, however due to the fact that half of the figures face is white and the other black this symbolises the possible dark side and good side that the band has. The fact that none of the band members are not shown on the advertisement goes against the stereotypical advertisement that bands have. This in a sense could highlight the diversity of the band and how they are completely unique this meaning that there sound and image could be something different than the stereotype of the ‘indie’ genre. The advertisement’s two main colours are black and white, one obvious reason this could have been done is because if the background is white this means that the most important words of the advert are highlighted and can be easily seen these words include the title of the album ‘Kasabian’ and ‘Debut Album’ this effectively draws us too the most important aspects of the advertisement straight away this way when people are flicking through a magazine for example they will catch enough detail of the advertisement to grasp what it is about in enough time before their attention is drawn elsewhere (turning the page for example). However this advertisement does follow some of the typical conventions of a music advertisement, this being the fact the advert lists the most popular singles from the album. This effectively may draw people in who have heard the song before but where not aware who it was sung by. Also, if people know that Kasabian sing ‘club foot’ for example they may be wanting to purchase the album to see if they’re other songs are like the one they listen to from the artist.
