Children ages 4-12 are welcome to join children from First ReformedChurch of Wynantskill, Bloomingrove Reformed Church, and St.Timothy’s Lutheran Church for their second cooperative VacationBible School this summer. VBS will be held at St. Timothy’s, 470Winter Street Ext., Defreestville, from August 4th – 8th, 8:30 AM to12:30 PM. We will be reprising our very successful Re-New VBSwith its emphasis on caring for creation. We have been given thiswonderful world, now we must learn to be good stewards of it!This summer, our theme will be based on the elements of creation!Dark/light, water/land, sun/moon, animals/humans: each day thechildren will hear part of the story of how this great big world cameto be. They will engage in themed songs, crafts, games, hands-onscience experiments and planting fun to emphasize the theme ofthe day. Even our daily snacks are theme coordinated. On Fridayevening, at 6:30 PM, it will all come together as campers, family,and friends gather for the Big Camp Extravaganza complete withsongs, skits, and ice cream sundaes. Grafton Lakes State Park will hold its first annual Learn-to-Swimprogram starting July 7 at the beach. The program, for childrenage 5 years through 12 years, is made possible through a partnershipbetween the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation,the American Red Cross, National Swimming Pool Foundation andthe Northeast Spa and Pool Association. Grafton Lakes State Parkwill hold two Learn-to-Swim sessions this summer. The first sessionwill run from July 7th through July 18th while the second sessionwill begin on July 21st and end on August 1st. The free swim classeswill help children become comfortable in an open water environmentand will provide basic swimming and water safety techniques. Opento any child between the ages of 5 years to 10 years. Guardian muststay on site. The swim classes are free and offered at GraftonLakes State Park at the beach.
