Advertising conventions
• Most adverts have a picture filling the whole of the background….
![Page 2: Advertising conventions and Task](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022042816/558e23f11a28ab5d048b45f8/html5/thumbnails/2.jpg)
And they usually have a slogan
![Page 3: Advertising conventions and Task](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022042816/558e23f11a28ab5d048b45f8/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
There's also a logo, to help the audience identify the charity…

And to create continuity
across a number of
adverts
![Page 5: Advertising conventions and Task](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022042816/558e23f11a28ab5d048b45f8/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
You will notice here, that the same style of photography, the anchorage, and the font type are the same as in the previous image…

And sometimes an image will be manipulated
to make it look more
unusual, or the image will
not be promoting a product, but
seeking to educate
people…

it may just contain text…
![Page 8: Advertising conventions and Task](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022042816/558e23f11a28ab5d048b45f8/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Occasionally, an advert will make use of intertextuality…
![Page 9: Advertising conventions and Task](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022042816/558e23f11a28ab5d048b45f8/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Intertextuality is where elements are borrowed from one media text, and reused, sometimes for irony, or for a humourous effect…
