February Update

Manifold for multiple air cleaners in Intake Tool Purpose: Account for manifold pressure drop

when multiple air cleaners used Advisor has had the ability to have multiple air

cleaners entered in the Intake Build Model section. When this is done, the pressure drop through the air cleaners is based on a reduced flow equal to the total intake flow divided by the number of air cleaners. But, there was no way to model a manifold that the air cleaners were plumbed into

In order to use multiple air cleaners, a manifold is used to “gang” the individual air cleaners together.

This changes gives the ability to determine the drop through a typical manifold for two air cleaners, or two different styles of manifolds used to mount three air cleaners.

In case of three parallel air cleaners, the option is given to select either an Airbox style or a Cylinder style of manifold.

February Update, cont.

Mounting Tool Table Addition Purpose: Add table to existing layout of

“Mounting System Tool - Select Engine window - Second screen” to automatically calculate added weight & roll moment of inertia effects of adding user-defined components, such as air cleaners, mufflers, alternators, etc.

Each component entered on a separate line in the Mounting SE screen.

Advisor will calculate the added effect of the M.I. by knowing the weight and radial distance from the base engine c.g.

User-defined weight will be calculated by automatically adding the weight of each component to the base engine weight.

February Update, cont.

Add question to checklist on Intake Tool to design / verify air cleaner exhaust aspiration flow

Purpose: Add a new question numbered 18 under Air Cleaner section for Intake Tool

Create a warning, if radiator fin density > 10 Purpose: Add a new question numbered 11 in the Radiator section for Cooling

System Tool checklist

6

Add pictures to “?” buttons in Checklist Purpose: For Cooling System Tool checklist, on click of “?” button of question

nos. 1.2, 1.6, 4.2, 2.1 and 3, display pictures from the AEB 24.18.

February Update, cont.

Wrong User/Installation value for warning Purpose: In Evaluate Issues screen of Intake System Tool, User/Installation value for Air Cleaner air flow

warning should be the part number or option number of selected air cleaner. It should not be "1".

Calculated fan speed error Purpose: Add Fan option & Condition option to Cooling System Tool. Once this option is selected, display screen with “Select Fan” Option. When clicking the Select Fan button, open the list of fan components. If a fan component is opened it will display details of the Fan. Make the fan curve data optional in the fan

component. Also make “Reference Fan Speed” and “Fan Power at the reference Fan Speed” fields of Fan Data as

optional.

Remove Intake Checklist Questions 20, 21, 22 & 23 Purpose: Remove the "CAC Piping" section and questions falling under this

section (question no 20, 21, 22 & 23) from the Intake checklist.

Cooling checklist Other Cores logic change Purpose: Change the Cooling checklist logic such that When answer to

question 18 = Yes, display questions 18.1 and 18.2.

Add Exhaust Components Temperature Test to Exhaust Testing section

Purpose: Need to add one more test tab called “Exhaust Components Temperature Test” to Exhaust Testing section falling under IR.

If the selected engine is not Tier 4 or Tier 4(i) certified, then this test should be disabled.

On click of this tab a screen should appear to get temperature details.

If entered details are invalid, generate Severity Code 1 warning.

Also, the results should be published in a table format on the report page under testing section.

Add/modify Exhaust checklist questions Purpose: Add three new checklist questions in the

Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) section for Exhaust Testing – Add one question between Q11.19 and Q11.20 and add other two questions to the end of section.

Also add one more field in Units/Selection dropdown of Q11.5 as “ASTM A536 Grade 60-40-18 cast iron”.
