Sacrament Guidelines COMMUNION TO THE SICK: Anyone who is ill and unable to attend Mass for a month or longer can call the Parish Office. The priests or Spe-cial Ministers of Communion to the Sick will be happy to bring the Eucharist to the homebound. SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM: Prospective parents are asked to call the Parish Office three months before the birth of a child. A baptismal class is required before an infant's baptism is scheduled. Baptismal classes are held on the third Wednesday of every other month. Baptisms are held on the first and third Sundays of the month after the noon Mass. SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE: Requests for weddings should be made at least twelve months in advance of the prospective date. Church ar-rangements should be made before other wedding date commitments. No wedding dates are given over the phone. Pre-marriage preparation is also required. LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: To act as sponsors for the Sacraments of Baptism and/or Confirmation can be given only to registered members of the Parish who are confirmed, attend Mass, receive the sacraments regularly and registered for three months.in the parish. If the requesting per-son is married, the marriage must have taken place in conformity with the laws of the Church.

COVID-19 is now “a highly contagious communicable disease that presents a serious risk of harm to the public health” under New York State & the CDC has indicated that New York State’s rate of transmission is “high.”

Masks are now mandated for all par ticipants in the lit-urgy, especially when in close proximity to those of other households (for entry, exit, and when receiving Holy Com-munion). When seated, participants may “relax their mask” if they feel comfortable to do so.

Eucharistic Ministers & Altar Ministry As before, masks are required for those distributing the Eucharist. Eu-charistic Ministers should limit in-home visits to close fam-ily. Anyone in the sanctuary should limit close exposureand all should practice good hygiene. For example, instead of having a server hold their missal, presiders should con-sider holding it or placing it on a stand. If a deacon is pre-sent, there should be distance between him and the cele-brant.

It’s that time of year again---Our Annual Mitten Drive! The summerlike tempera-tures of September will soon be forgotten. But please don’t forget the children in our community who will need mittens, gloves,

hats and scarves to keep them warm as cooler temperatures become more common. The St. Vincent de Paul Society of our parish is once again collecting new or gently used (clean and laundered) mittens, gloves, hats and scarves which will be distributed to children in need. Look for the Mitten Barrel in the Ushers Room to accept your donated items. The collection will run from next Sunday, October 10th, to Sunday, November 7th. Thank you for your sup-port in this worthwhile endeavor.

Clear Out Your Cans & Help Our High School Youth Group

We are no longer partnering with Cash for Cans on Abbott. Our High School Youth Group now has an account at 12th Man Bottle & Can Redemption, just 1/2 mile from OLSH at 2170 Abbott Rd.! They are open 6-days a week. Just

drop off cans and bottles and tell them it's for "OLSH Youth" - no need to wait. We will receive the deposits in a monthly check. (glass bottles must be in cardboard boxes) 12th Man is starting that policy as a safety measure. This money will help our high school teens attend faith-building events and provide resources for teen gatherings at the parish. Thank you!

Lectors are provided with a book of readings for each Church year, so they can practice ahead of time. The books also contain interesting information about the context and meaning of the passages to be read. Studying this can help make your proclaiming of the scripture more confident and meaningful to your listeners. Why do people become lectors? • To be more involved in the Sacrament of the Eucharist• To demonstrate your commitment to the life of the Church• To get more active in our parish community• To deepen your own experience of the Mass• To develop a closer relationship to the scripture• To help your fellow parishioners enjoy a richer experi-ence of the Mass

We are in need of lectors for Noon Mass. If you are interested please call the parish office.
