FEM (Finite Element Method)The structural dimensioning is executed through a sophisticated fi nite element computation program (FEA), which also tests the dynamic loads on machine elements, enabling CMS to design structures and choose motion systems (precision guides and roller recirculation sliding blocks) that grant greater operation power, geometrical accuracy and reliability of high-speed machining, even in case of heavy work loads.

Thermal stabilityMachining accuracy and quality are further enhanced by the thermal symmetry of the machine structure.The precision racks fi tted directly on the structure, next to the ball recirculating guides and the position transducers, keep the tempera-ture of the moving parts steady, thus obtaining high thermal stability as well as the total absence of system torsional instability, even in the case of the heaviest machining.

High quality accuracy and repeatability on all axesLinear and rotating direct encoders inductive type, resistant to all dust and magnetic interferences.Laser alignments and ball-bar test.

Brake system on fi ve-axis working unitFive-axis working unit equipped with pneumatic brakes for fi xing the two rotating axis position during the machining operations which do not require these axes to be interpolated; this makes possible higher stiffness.

Kinematics with double driving motor on linear axesDriving motion system composed of double-gantry brushless motors. Positioning accuracy of linear axes is guaranteed by the motion transmission, provided by a precision rack-and-pinion, reduction gear and motor system, which permits backlash recovery and rigidity increase thanks to a preloaded pair of pinions on both coupled motors.

New fi ve axis working unit with direct drive tech-nology (Torque Motors)The twist unit with direct drive (no drive assembly between servo-motor and axis motion) is the ultimate state-of-the-art innovation for a Five axis working unit, which dramatically increases and improves the machine’s overall dynamic performances in 5-axis continuous operation.The Direct Drive architecture (torque motors), integrated with radial-axial bearings of high precision and rigidity, enables maximum precision and dynamic response of the rotating axes. The absence of mechanical control parts subject to wear guarantees that the machine will maintain its performance without the need of corrective intervention. The positioning accuracy is guaranteed by precision a encoder (double sensor for each rotating axis) fi tted directly on the bearing rest.
