Kalaik Kamal has been continu- ously per- forming for 30 years in the field of music. He can be specifically mentioned as a senior artiste who has performed with all the Tamil and Sinhalese musi- cal groups in Sri Lanka. She painted for sev- eral years in Rome, held group exhibitions with the United Nations Women’s Guild annually, as well solo exhibitions before she left Italy. She sold many paintings, which today hang in private collections in Italy, France, UK, USA, Canada, Barbados, Kenya, Nigeria, India, Australia and of course, Sri Lanka. On her return to Sri Lanka, she had the good fortune to come under the tutelage of the brilliant Painter and Sculptor, Prof. Sarath Chandrajeeva at the Colombo Academy of Art. She has been painting under his guidance and encouragement for many years and his influence is clearly seen in her more recent works. 03 Nov Mueen Saheed found inner peace and all it took was a paint brush, canvas, myriad of colours followed by many sleepless nights and lots of coffee. The effort to awaken the artist within him that was eagerly waiting to emerge was not an easy one but his journey that began in 2006 is a great success. Mueen never knew he will be able to fulfill his dream of becoming an artist until he started experiment- ing by himself with the advice given to him by two expert artists.
