CAPT Christopher Kiwus, CEC, USN and Jacksonville Post President, presided over the luncheon meeting on December 18, 2013. The luncheon was enjoyed by 43 persons. CAPT Kiwus welcomed everyone and led the group in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Eric Denfeld provided the invocation. After a breakfast buffet, CAPT Kiwus announced that the Post Sustaining Member firms are being given the opportunity to spend a few minutes discussing their firm’s capabilities and other information. Alan Watt Reed provided a handout to each attendee “RS&H Improving Your World” and briefly discussed RS&H’s accomplishments (www.rsandh.com). John Adams also provided a handout to each attendee “Taylor Engineering Company Overview “and briefly discussed Taylor Engineering’s accomplishments (www.taylorengineering.com). Dr. Don Resio, center, director of the Taylor

Engineering Research Institute at the University of

North Florida, records coastal data. Resio is a

recognized leader in meteorological and

oceanographic research. UNF’s Taylor

Engineering Research Institute promotes

collaboration among engineers and students in

coastal and water resource engineering and

draws upon the College’s environmental computer

modeling research. The Institute was created

through a $1 million gift from Taylor Engineering,

Inc. and is critical in a state where 77 percent of

the population lives in coastal counties.
