Affinity Research Learning Inc.

The centerpiece of the edForm enterprise is the Correlation Technology Platform "CTP" which is focused on the unique needs of the education domain

Using Correlation Technology as the basis for addressing information stores, edForm is able to open accurate and unique views on silos of documents for students and teachers

Search engines are part of the Information Retrieval (IR) domain of knowledge

IR methods are directed to locating resources that are relevant to a question called a query

Regardless of the techniques utilized, the core issue in IR is relevance – that is, the relevance of the documents retrieved to the original query

Page 4: Affinity Research Learning Presentation

Faced with tens or even hundreds of thousands of documents returned by existing search tools in response to a complex query, the reader is simply overwhelmed

The problem is information overload, or “Cognitive Dissonance”

4 www.afflearn.com

Page 5: Affinity Research Learning Presentation

Affinity Research Learning Inc.

A search query is a type of question.

When a search user enters a simple phrase – such as “green tea” – the user is asking a simple question.

This type of current search capability is “limited search”, and limited search works great for 84 – 85% of all searches on search engines.

But what happens when the search user asks a complex question, or a question that’s never been asked before, or a question asked only infrequently?

What happens if answers to that question are spread piecemeal over many documents instead of one “popular document”?

What happens if the “most relevant” documents shown the user are written for domain-specific expertise the user doesn’t possess?

5 www.afflearn.com

Page 6: Affinity Research Learning Presentation

No user can be expected to read every document returned with the results of current search tools

For complex or N-Dimensional queries, existing search engines provide poor methods of establishing relevancy

A new solution for education is required, and that solution is edForm

The edForm CTP has the unique ability to transform the way students and teachers utilize learning resources on a global basis

What is Correlation Technology?

Synthesis of Search, Information Extraction, and Knowledge Discovery

Exhaustive extraction of information from resources into unique knowledge fragments stored in schema-free InfoBase

Page 11: Affinity Research Learning Presentation

Affinity Research Learning Inc.

The Correlation Technology Platform (CTP) using the patented Connect The Dots function, produces correlations from massive stores of information, by decomposing the knowledge payloads into knowledge fragments

edForm then re-chains or correlates those fragments to produce innovative results launching the student into new areas of exploration and discovery

One of the patented features of the Correlation Technology Platform is the Correlation Search Engine

The CSE counts the number of contributions of any source document to completed pathways surpassing popularity measures as a means of establishing relevance

Nationalism in India The growth of modern nationalism is intimately connected to the anti-colonial movement. Needing a compliant workforce for such a large colony, the British began to educate wealthy and high-caste Indians to get them to adopt both the English language and British customs. (MORE) (References) Quit India Movement At the outbreak of war in 1939 between Britain and Germany, India was also declared to be at war with Germany as it constituted part of the British Empire. The Indian Congress took the view that while it opposed fascism, it could render no support to the British either: there was little to choose between the totalitarianism of the Nazis and the colonialism of the British. (MORE) (References) Reasons for Independence The pressure from the rising tide of nationalism made running the British Empire politically and economically very challenging, and increasingly not cost effective. European capital investment declined in the inter-war years and India went from a debtor country in World War One to a creditor in World War Two. As a result, India moved inexorably towards self-government. (MORE) (References) Gandhi Revered the world over for his nonviolent philosophy of passive resistance, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was known to his many followers as Mahatma, or "the great-souled one." He began his activism as an Indian immigrant in South Africa in the early 1900s and in the years following World War I became the leading figure in India's struggle to gain independence from Great Britain. (MORE) (References) Economy of India under the British Raj Since the British Raj had embraced the technological change then rampant in Great Britain, India as well saw rapid development of all those technologies. Railways, roads, canals, and bridges were rapidly built in India. (MORE) (References)

Palestine and the British During the Great War (World War I), the Ottoman Empire controlled most of the Middle East. Following a disastrous defeat at Gallipoli the British allied itself with Arab leaders in an attempt to defeat the Ottomans. (MORE) (References) Zionism Jews in the Arab world were not facing oppression as they were in Europe. That is one of the reasons the Jewish nationalism movement of Zionism did not emerge in the Muslim world, but in Europe where anti-Semitism was very common. (MORE) (References)

The Balfour Declaration England's intentions concerning Palestine were of considerable consequence in determining whether a Jewish state would be established in the region. (MORE) (References)

Palestine after the war and the end of the British Mandate Winston Churchill and the Conservatives lost the elections after the end of the war and were replaced by the Labour party headed by Clement Attlee (1883-1967). Zionists welcomed their victory but soon found out that Labour members now needed to maintain good relationships with the Arabs. They wished to protect their interests in the area which resulted in yet another restriction in the Jewish immigration. (MORE) (References)

MORE Economy of India under the British Raj Since the British Raj had embraced the technological change then rampant in Great Britain, India as well saw rapid development of all those technologies. Railways, roads, canals, and bridges were rapidly built in India. In addition telegraph links were rapidly established in order that raw materials, such as cotton, from India's hinterland could be transported more efficiently to ports, such as Bombay, for subsequent export to England. [2] Colonial rule brought a major change in the taxation environment from revenue taxes to property taxes resulting in mass impoverishment and destitution of the great majority of farmers. [8] India's colonization by the British coincided with major changes in the world economy—industrialization, and significant growth in production and trade. However, at the end of colonial rule, India inherited an economy that was one of the poorest in the developing world, [9] with industrial development stalled, agriculture unable to feed a rapidly growing population, one of the world's lowest life expectancies, and low rates of literacy.
