the great traditions o the past while setting precedents in the

horological industry. With its most recent oering, this historic

watchmaker continues a trend o blending one o the oldest o

all complications, or eatures outside o the basic identication

o hours, minutes and seconds, with modern renement and

aesthetic appeal.

The Millenary Hand-Wound Minute Repeater with

Audemars Piguet Escapement employs the repeater striking

mechanism, a complication rst invented in the 15th century to

allow people within hearing distance to know the time without

having to see the clocks ace. Though the mechanism required

to accurately sound the hours, quarter hours and minutes

was developed early in the history o watchmaking, it is still

considered to be one o the most dicult complications toachieve and is now executed by very ew movement manuacturers

in the industry. Among these manuacturers, Audemars Piguet

was an early innovator o the technology; as the rst company to

create a minute repeater wristwatch in 1892, it has become the

bearer o this particular standard o watch technology. Audemars

was also among the rst brands to revive this orm rom a long

slumber, when, in the 1980s, they began to reinvestigate the

genre and produce new timepieces.

HorologyIn this new offering from Audemars Piguet,

both the classic and the modern are combined. Homage

The Yachts o Seabourn was des igned to provide ultra-luxury

cruises to the worlds premier destinations while creating a

liestyle or passengers that is both highly personal and utterly

careree. This company ocus originates rom President andChie Executive Ofcer Pamela C. Conover and is personifed

by the sta. Conover explains that, in an eort to create the most

highly personalized experience possible, the crew specializes in the

While Conover ensures the highest standard o luxury and

Littley. Littley crats diverse itineraries that blend marquee

locales. In Conovers opinion, the most exotic location

that Seabourn requents is Nuku Hiva, the largest o the

Marquesas Islands in the middle o the Pacifc Ocean. She

notes that Nuku Hiva is difcult to reach by any means otherthan yacht, making it exotic, exclusive and a avorite

destination o passengers.

While this combination o exotic and marquee locales sets

Seabourn apart rom other cruise lines, the company also seeks

This desire is motivated by Conovers personal preerences and

experiences; as she explains, she loves to explore new ports o

call when the opportunity is available. However, she recognizes

that a new port may break into a passengers sense o relaxation
