Caustic Soda is also known as sodium hydroxide, and is an alkali salt which is white in solid form and clear in liquid from. The compound is highly soluble in water, it is predominantly processed to form a saturated solution of ~50% concentration. In solid form it is available as pellets, granules as well as flakes. African Chemicals has capacity to supply 9, 000 liquid metric tonnes (LMT) of product per month / 108, 000 LMT per annum. The product may be delivered in solid form, road tankers, intermediate bulk containers (IBC) or dissolved onsite for immediate delivery.

ii. Copper (II) Sulfate pentahydrate

Name Copper Sulphate Pentahydrate

Chemical formula CuSO4.5H2O

Grade Industrial

CAS no 7758-98-7

Appearance Blue Triclinic Crystals

Copper (II) Suphate pentahydrate is a common salt of copper. It is a bright blue, odourless crystalline powder which is soluble in water. We are able so supply Copper (II) Suphate pentahydrate in 25Kg bags or 500Kg bags (can also arrange as per customer specification). African Chemicals has an annual supply capacity of approximately 154 metric tonnes per month / 1, 850 metric tonnes per annum.

AFRICAN CHEMICALS COMPANY PROFILE 2016

Sodium silicate is a versatile, inorganic chemical made by combining various ratios of sand and soda ash (sodium carbonate) at high temperature. This process yields a variety of products with unique chemistry that is used in many industrial and consumer applications. Sodium silicate products are manufactured as solids or thick liquids, depending on proposed use. The product may be delivered in bulk bags of a customer’s desired volume. African chemicals has capacity to supply 6, 000 metric tonnes of sodium silicate per month / 72, 000 metric tonnes per annum.

iv. Sodium sulphate

Name Sodium sulphate decahydrate

Chemical formula Na2SO4.10(H2O)

Purity 99 % min

CAS no 7727-73-3 Appearance White crystal solid

When anhydrous, Sodium sulphate is a white crystalline solid of formula Na2SO4. The decahydrate, Na2SO4.10(H2O), is known as Glauber's salt. Sodium sulfate is mainly used for the manufacture of detergents and in the Kraft process of paper pulping, though it has many other uses. About half of the world's production is from the natural mineral form of the decahydrate (mirabilite), and half from by-products of chemical processes. Sodium sulphate is available in bulk, 50kg bags or the customer’s desired packaging. African chemicals has production capacity of 450 metric tonnes per month or 54, 000 metric tonnes per year. We are able to augment the production by low cost importing and resale to domestic market.

v. Sodium carbonate (light and dense)

Name Soda Ash light

Chemical formula Na2CO3

Grade Light and dense

CAS no 497-19-8

Appearance White granules

Two forms of sodium carbonate (soda ash) are used - heavy and light. The light form is obtained first and some is then converted into the heavy form. Light sodium carbonate contains less than 0.5% sodium chloride. Heavy sodium carbonate is obtained by hydrating light sodium carbonate to the monohydrate (Na2CO3.H2O) and then dehydrating it to give a product with an increased crystal size and density. The two grades have different uses. The major uses of heavy sodium carbonate are as a solid, particularly in making glass, where it is used as a flux in the melting of silica (sand). African Chemicals has limitless access to supply from various sources.
