A training, dubbed “Safe from Harm” was conducted for all leaders and adults invited to support the participation of young people in the Africa Scout Day International Camp. The trainer, Mr. Jonathan Omondi, Manager Youth Programme reminded trainees that the goal of this training is enable the creation of a safe environment for young people for the various activities planned for them.

The training discussed the types of possible abuse ranging from physical or psychological and participants were provided with guidelines on how to handle such possible incidents. In addition, a team of 10 safety stewards was set up to manage all safety issues including managing the leaders/adults.

In order to show their commitment to assuring a safe environment for the young people, all adults signed their individual commitment forms to uphold the Safe From Harm provision.

The annual International Women’s Day marked on March 8, celebrates women’s achievements and pushes forward towards gender equality. The theme of this year’s celebration is #PressforProgress.

“We can’t be complacent. Now, more than ever, there’s a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. A strong call to #PressforProgress. A strong call to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.”

Today, as we celebrate all of the women in Scouting around the globe working to create a better world, we invite you to commit to gender equality. Commit to HeForShe.

Visit www.heforshe.org/en/commit/scouts for more infor-mation and how you can become part of the progress towards gender equality.
