Art club: Create and Discover Junior Vanessa Sirault, certified instructor This class is based on the same principles than "Create and Discover" for the "big kids" but has been adapted to our little explorers abilities. Those little fingers will get busy having fun while learning about art and discovering color, texture, shape and artistic techniques through pro-jects such as making mask and building photo frames.

Art club: Create and Discover session 2 Vanessa Sirault, certified instructor The conception of art may vary from one person to another. In this class, we will embrace any creative thoughs and transform it to art projects. We will continue to explore different media and different tolls through projects like squirt painting or soap making. We will also continue to develop artistic and creative thinking as well as building skills with activities such as three-dimensional landscape and mosaic candle light. And most of all, we will continue to have fun while learning about art.

Art club: Mural, mural, tell me... Vanessa Sirault, certified instructor In this art class, the students will learn every steps of the creation of a mural. We will brainstorm for ideas, find images, draft a concept, map it on paper to finally transfer it to one of the wall of the school. Through the process, beside having fun, the children will learn, among other things, artistic techniques, compromise, and team work.

Ballet Marseille Allen, certified instructor The class uses imaginative, fun musical activities to build strength, flexi-bility and body awareness. Ballet improves gross motor skills, coordina-tion, and posture. Special musical activities help develop a child’s sense of rhythm and an awareness of the rich language of music. Children also learn to share space, time, and attention with their classmates.

Karate My Gym certified instructor

Each class, we practice kicking, punching, blocking, yelling, stretching, running and jumping. It is a very interactive, fun class. We incorporate all the protocol and discipline of a more traditional martial arts studio, but in a unique and fun manner for our students. The children learn about respect, discipline and goal setting. We install these values in our young pupils employing the distinctive and fun My Gym method.

Explore the farthest reaches of our Solar System and build a model space station. Witness an underwater volcano, watch crystals grow, see foam turn into “goo,” and find out how hurricanes and tornadoes form. Discover the links between science and art and how master painters mix and separate colors. Explore the atmosphere to see how stars look in space, and why they twinkle. Learn how science equipment works and explore the virtual science lab we call “the Kitchen.” Experiment with gravity, sound waves and amazing things that glow in the dark! You will even discover the science behind famous magic tricks that you can recreate. It truly is All About the Science this fall!

Tae Kwon Do- Beginners and advanced Master Chris Macedo, from Myung Kim Martial Arts Build true confidence, honesty in the heart and strength in the body. Learn courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and in-domitable spirit. There are many positive benefits to starting a child early in martial arts. Some examples are: self-esteem, self-control, concentration, awareness, listening to directions and coordination.

CONVERSATIONAL FRENCH Ludivine Tison, French Instructor Our French conversation program is designed for all the students to develop their speaking and listening skills at a good level. This is accom-plished through discussion on a variety of topics such as business and economics, politics, health and medicine, social commentary, culture, travel, entertainment and the environment, to name a few. Also, vocab-ulary is improved through the reading of articles, utilizing magazines, periodicals, newspaper and other material. Debates and presentations are used to develop the self confidence needed for any student who wishes to become conversationally effective in the French language.

school activity during the semester 1)

The Semester 1 includes 15 classes per activity (once every school week) starting on Monday September 27th 2010 and ending on Friday February 4th 2011. There will be make up classes between Monday, February 14th and Friday, February 18th 2011.

First come, first served. If we reach the maximum capacity in an activity, we will open a waiting list and let you know if we have any openings. If we don’t reach the minimum number of students in a given activity (mostly 6 students), the class will be canceled and the parents will be given a re-fund. Payments are due before the first lesson of each semester. If your child starts an activity after the beginning date, the full amount is due. There will be no pro-rated price. There will be no reim-bursement for student absences or dropping out of a class. Students can be suspended from a class if their behavior is not appropriate. The Activities Director and the teacher will notify you with an official warning before they take that action. For the classes starting at 4:30 p.m. there will be an after-school day care waiver for one class per week. If your child is enrolled in more than one activity you will have to pay the normal fees for the second activity. For the Elementary school, instructors will pick up the students in the yard with a roster given by the school administration. They will not take students who didn’t sign up. Last minute enroll-ments may not appear on the roster. At the end of the class the instructors will bring the students back to the yard and be given back to the supervisors. Parents will have to sign them out at this time only. You can not pick up your child directly from the class. For the secondary school, students will go directly to class for their activity.
