Child Labour- A Bane for Society?

A child whose childhood, has been snatched away, Now works day and night, to earn a meagre pay, The hands which were meant to study and play,

Are working now, laboring all day, Out his eyes look with a dream to be free and fly,

His hands though bruised, But his hopes are still high….

CHILD LABOUR is a devil which separates a child from his childhood and puts a question mark on his health, education and dignity. This is a social evil which still prevails in our society. Laws of India are completely against child labor. But still dreams of many children are shattered because of child labor. This evil is a bane to our society. One of the reasons for child labour is poverty. Millions of children are still laboring, still struggling. Sivakasi, a hub of fireworks factory, still employs over 100,000 child labors. Firozabad, a center of the bangle making industry, is a place where slave trade still exists in the form of child labor. Tiny hands slog all day instead of attending school. The poor need to understand that they are jeopardizing the future of their children for a few thousand rupees. An educated child is an asset for the family and has better prospects. The blame lies with us as well. We encourage child labour by employing these unfortunate children as they can be underpaid and are easy to manage. We all have the capacity to be the harbinger of change. To make the dreams of these children come true, let us put a book in every child’s hand, knowledge in every child’s mind and hope in every child’s heart. Because it’s not me, it’s not you, it’s us who will be the change and make our country a better place to live.

SUBJECT WEEK ART WEEK (01.10.2015-17.10.2015)

‘Art is not what you see, but what you make others see’. Every child is born with creative potential but this potential may be stifled if care is not taken to nurture and stimulate his/her creativ-ity. Hence in order to unfurl the creativity pursuits of the students, Art Week was organized from 1st Oct to 17st Oct 2015.The ravish-ing and enthralling world of different forms of art was exposed to the students. The week successfully enhanced the aesthetic sensibil-ity to enable the students to appreciate and understand the value of beauty in any form through various activities based on cultures of different countries. Children were encouraged to have flights of fan-tasies and give shape to their creative ability. This event witnessed 100% participation from students.
