The proposed project consists in providing all materials, equipment, and labor to construct an intermodal yard on the approximately 40 acre site. June 1st 2016 is the deadline for compliance with the new T/OSHA HazCom requirements. What do you need to ensure:
1. You have updated your written program to comply. Labeling of all containers. Note: The requirements are more specific than before. You must have a name that matches the SDS on the label as well as health and physical hazard information.
2. Your SDS sheets have been updated. Manufacturers have passed their deadline to comply. Make sure you have the new SDS version for each chemical or at least the most current version if the manufacturer is not in compliance. Lastly, not a new requirement, but make sure you have a chemical inventory of products being used. The final rule aligning OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard with the Globally Harmonized System of classification and labeling of chemicals (GHS) is complete. The new information on the GHS Standard must be relayed to employees and training must take place by Dec. 1, 2013 in order for employees to stay in compliance with OSHA, the deadline for compliance is June 1st 2016.
