Age friendly is on the agenda!
The concept of age friendliness is now underpinned by 26 key
directions embedded in the Maroondah 2040 Strategic Plan
“I love the diverse demographic – young families, older families,
older people, the sense of community
Examples of 2040 key directions
Promote the value, expertise and contribution of mature aged workers and encourage
intergenerational mentoring and skills-transfer
Support all ages and population groups to be valued, connected, supported and empowered
within their local community through the provision and coordination of accessible
services, programming and facilities
Support community members to age in place, live in accessible neighbourhoods and remain socially connected
Advocate and promote the provision of a diversity of affordable housing options to suit a range of lifestyle needs and life-stage requirements
Establish a built environment that is child, youth and age friendly through strengthening the inclusiveness and accessibility of our local
neighbourhoods and activity centres
