LOCAL NOTES TOWN NEWS HAMPTON DEMS RE-ELECT OFFICERS HAMPTON | The incumbent officers of the Hampton Democratic Committee were re-elected by a unanimous voice vote at a re-organizational meeting held on Wednes- day, March 1 at the Lane Memorial Library. Gary Patton was elected chairman; Sunny Kravitz was selected vice-chairman; Pat Baker was chosen to be secre- tary; and Lea Downer was picked to be treasurer. These officers have served in their present positions for five con- secutive, two-year terms. In addition to holding their election, the Hampton Demo- cratic Committee has been making plans for their annual Jefferson-Jackson dessert reception, which will take place from 6:30-9 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, at the Hampton Eatery, located in the Inn of Hampton on Lafayette Road (Route 1). Television personality and former candidate for New Hampshire governor and Congress, Arnie Arnesen, will be the featured speaker at the event. The reception will occur only three days before Hamp- ton’s municipal election scheduled for Tuesday, March 14. All candidates running for municipal office have been invited to the reception and will be given the chance to speak briefly. KINNEY ATLANTIC NEWS STAFF WRITER SEABROOK | A Massa- chusetts man was arrested last Thursday and arraigned at Hampton District Court on Friday on charges that he attempted to steal approxi- mately $700 in baby formula from a local supermarket and stabbed a store employ- ee in the face with a screw- driver. John Cardinale, 28, of 114 Bayswater Street , No. 2, East Boston, Mass., is charged with a Class A felony of armed robbery. A Class A felony is punishable by 7-1/2 to 15 years in state prison and up to $4,000 in fines. Seabrook Prosecutor Scott Mendes said on Mon- day he anticipates further charges to be forthcoming. Police allege Cardinale entered the Market Basket located at Seabrook Plaza, 838 Lafayette Road, at roughly 1:40 p.m., and pro- ceeded to fill a shopping cart with $686 worth of baby formula. He attempted to leave the store without pay- ing. Cardinale was confront- Arraignment in Seabrook robbery ed by one of the store’s managers when the alleged assault took place. Police said the store employee was stabbed in the left cheek, close to the eye, with a screwdriver while wrestling with Cardinale. When police arrive at the scene they found a large group of people holding Cardinale to the ground. Police said Cardinale gave false identification to offi- cers, but was later identified by FBI agents through fin- gerprinting. Cardinale made no men- tion of family, but, accord- ing to Mendes, baby formula is often sold on the street. “They can get about half of what it’s worth and then turn around and use that money, quite often, for drugs,” he said. Mendes said on Friday during the arraignment that Cardinale has two prior armed robbery convictions, five shoplifting convictions and has been convicted of having drugs with the intent to distribute and is currently on probation in Massachusetts. Judge Francis Frasier set bail at $75,000 cash and told Cardinale he was not eligi- ble to make bail for 72 hours, allowing his proba- tion officer time to file a detainer. Cardinale must wave extradition to New Hampshire as a condition of bail. He is currently being held at Rockingham County Correctional Facility. HAMPTON DEMS RE-ELECT OFFICERSHAMPTON | The incumbent officers of the Hampton

Democratic Committee were re-elected by a unanimousvoice vote at a re-organizational meeting held on Wednes-day, March 1 at the Lane Memorial Library.

Gary Patton was elected chairman; Sunny Kravitz wasselected vice-chairman; Pat Baker was chosen to be secre-tary; and Lea Downer was picked to be treasurer. Theseofficers have served in their present positions for five con-secutive, two-year terms.

In addition to holding their election, the Hampton Demo-cratic Committee has been making plans for their annualJefferson-Jackson dessert reception, which will take placefrom 6:30-9 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, at the HamptonEatery, located in the Inn of Hampton on Lafayette Road(Route 1). HAM AND BEAN SUPPER PLANNEDKENSINGTON | The public is invited to a
