Executive Seminar: Present and Future State of Situational Awareness Capabilities In partnership with US Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security This Executive Level Education Seminar provides participants with an opportunity to engage in a tabletop exercise that is based on a real-world incident scenario based on a complex coordinated attack. The seminal questions that will be addressed:

What is the 5-year vision for public safetyGIS capabilities? What emergentchallenges will GIS be required to address? What are the necessary elements toaccomplish this vision?

What constitutes a next generationsituational awareness capabilities? Howdoes public safety move from the currentstate to mature capabilities?

What does the future hold for GIS tocontribute to predictive analytics, specifically as concerns complexcoordinated attacks and asymmetricscenarios?

Lead Facilitator: Clark Kimerer, Deputy Chief of Police, Seattle Police Department (ret)

Closed Meeting: FEMA Geospatial Working Group Meeting 1:00pm-4:30pm

A GWG Meeting will be held at NGPS for participating FEMA staff from headquarters and the Regions. This is a closed meeting.

Workshop: Strengthening Community Resilience through Location-Enabled Data, Technology, and Analysis 1:00pm-4:30pm In partnership with the US Geospatial Intelligence Foundation

This workshop is designed for first responders and local/state GIS leaders. It serves to:

Gain a common understanding of thecurrent state of geospatial maturity

Share challenges and obstacles in furtheradvancing implementation

Identify and discuss needs, requirements, and potential solution sets

4:30pm-6:30pm

Map Gallery Competition & Networking Social NGPS participants are invited to share examples of your work! Together we’ll build a diverse collection of public safety cartography. The NGPS Map

Gallery will allow you to demonstrate your work to other participants, and act as a barometer for the current state of public safety mapping. Reserve a spot in the Map Gallery Competition, all submissions are due by July 1, 2017.

10:00am Functional Exercise and Stress Test NGPS culminates on day-3 with a functional exercise that is developed around a specific incident scenario.

Purpose: To facilitate a better understanding among and between operators, decision makers, and GIS practitioners on decision points essential to promoting operational coordination, and the data, analysis, products, and technology requirements needed to support effective decision making.

In breakout groups, participants are assigned a geographic area & agency to represent and individual roles that they simulate during the exercise. GIS Practitioners apply the technical skills and insights gained in the first two days, and stress test their individual capability in developing the

decision support products needed by operators and decision makers. Meanwhile, Public Safety Operators and Decision Makers exercise their ability to use GIS-based decision support products during the operational periods in the exercise and provide feedback to the GIS practitioners
