Northwest Territory = (Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin

• This land banned slavery from ever existing within the region (Northwest Ordinance of 1787).

• After the Revolutionary War the British were supposed to leave the forts in the N.W. Territory.

• However, the British refused to leave and instigated Natives to attack Americans.
