AGILE COACH &
TRANSFORMATION CONSULTANT®
THE CHALLENGES
SCRUM MASTERS, PRODUCT OWNERS, TEAM MEMBERS ANDMANAGERS OF AGILE TEAMS FACE COMPLEX CHALLENGES:
Let’s not fool ourselves: agile work demands a huge paradigm shift for everyone involved. Perhaps you are confronted with the following situation:
• How do we get employees who are used to having everything “dictated” to them to take responsibility be entrepreneurial in their thinking and actions?
• Agile teams and structures are supposed to be introduced without an exact framework that everyone can keep to. But how can this work if most project team members haven’t yetinternalised any agile principles?
• How can we equip managers to adopt a coaching role? And in particular in a system in which hierarchy is no longer a privilege but depends on the project and your own individual ideas. Those having formal leadership roles can feel that the very existence of their role is being jeopardised.
• What would it be like to deal with permanent uncertainty?
• What can we do so that “otherness” is perceived as an opportunity and an asset? Maximum diversity among team members is great for good ideas but can also provide the potential for conflict within a team.
• The Scrum Team is ensconced in old structures that at the interfaces look upon agile principles with scepticism and ask themselves what this is all about. “We’ve never done it that way before!” How can those at the interfaces and in the organisation be convinced?
The agile coach provides support with these and other issues!
WHAT DOES AN AGILE COACH & TRANSFORMATION CONSULTANT DO?
AN AGILE COACH & TRANSFORMATION CONSULTANT...
• knows and understands agile practices and principles andpassionately helps teams to learn and apply them.
• recognises organisational blockades and hindrances, and coachesmanagement and other affected parties in the agilisation of the company.
• is able to offer teams methodical support as a mediator, moderator, and coach to help them develop into high-performing teams.
• can convince managers and executive boards of the advantages of agile methods and processes and get them enthused about them.
At the moment, however, there are few people who are able to bring together all of these roles and abilities, let alone who have been trained in them.
THE AGILE COACH THUS FINDS HIM OR HERSELF IN THE FOLLOWING DEMANDING ROLES:
• Consultant• Trainer• Coach• Change manager
… and, often enough, they are also a manager.
OUR AGILE COACH & TRANSFORMATION CONSULTANT TRAINING
It’s this gap that we want to close with our 5-module training, offering you extensive practical experience, information, reflection and supervision for certification as an agile Coach.
While training you to be an agile coach, we’ll prepare you for the Professional Scrum Master PSM Level 1 Exam. You can complete your Scrum Master certification immediately afterward and combine it with Dr. Kraus & Partner’s agile coach certification.
With the abilities you’ve acquired and a suitcase full of different methods, you’ll then be well equipped for all the challenges entailed in making a company more agile, or even simply introducing agile teams.
And creating a link between agile tools and personal development along the way is especially important to us.
‘PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT’:
We're convinced that training as a coach is more than ‘just’attending sessions. Between the modules, you’ll work in small groups on specific practical examples, practise coaching formats, and work alone.
Combined with our experiences in supporting change processes, the result is a comprehensive training experience for everyonewho’s heading towards the ‘new world’.
SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE MODULES
THE NECESSARY SKILLS ARE TAUGHT IN 5 MODULES.THEY’RE DESCRIBED IN DETAIL ON THE FOLLOWING PAGES.
MODULE 1:AGILE KICKSTART & DIMENSIONS
Your client usually just says: “Make us agile!” Learn to distinguish what this means for different people and start with a good brief. We’ll give you a tool that helps you implement a comprehensive and structured analysis of the change situation and the effects of change on the system in dialogue form.
MODULE 2:AGILE PROJECT MANAGEMENT FOR SCRUM MASTERSAND THOSE WHO WANT TO BECOME ONE
Agile project management can be more than just Scrum. We reflect with you on other agile methods and apply these together with you to non IT-related teams and organisations as well. Experience what it means and how it feels to carry out a project in an agile way. As an option, we’ll prepare you for the Scrum Master exam.
MODULE 3:CHANGE MANAGEMENT: CULTURES, ORGANISATIONS & INDIVIDUALS IN AN AGILE CONTEXT
Cultural analysis and organisational development… What has to change and how to enable a successful introduction of agile structures and processes? How much agility can your business tolerate, and how can you ‘just start’ in completely rigid structures? No easy tasks, but doable with the right change management interventions.
SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE MODULES
MODULE 5:THE JOURNEY: REFLECTING PERSONALITY AND COACHING TOOLS
Agile organisations need agile personalities. Since, as with the Lean philosophy, the principles and methods of working are built strongly on independent initiative, personal responsibility and continuous reflection on your own actions and collaboration, people need self-confidence. Explore with us the strengths of your personality, lay down limiting patterns of behaviour, discover the values that form the basis of your decisions, and recognize the interactions of your (communication) behaviour in relation to the personalities of the stakeholders. In this module, you’ll use the coaching techniques from module 4 and various new tools for personal growth.
MODULE 4:AGILE ROLES & LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLES
Leading agile teams is both a joy and a challenge. Especially during the team identification phase there are significant conflicts and frictions. Reflect with us on your own leadership style and learn to become a ‘servant leader’. Improve your leadership style through coaching and team development formats as well as conflict moderation methods.

MODULE 1:
AGILE KICKSTART &AGILE DIMENSIONS
Group members get to know each other; initial insights around agile dimensions are formed; and a thorough analysis of aproposed change is prepared as a basis for the later modules. An understanding of organisations is formed and agile participation concepts are conveyed and applied. At the end of the module, participants will have an initial Idea of what (and who) must change to guide the plan to success. The Change Safari tool is used and understood in an agile context.
• Agility: What is it? And why do we need it today?• Getting to know the agile dimensions• Complicated vs. complexity: Stacey matrix• Role clarification in agile environments• Presentation and analysis of your own change situation
3 days, optional evening together
Goal
Content
Length
• Examining the change situation from all perspectives.• Initial steps for proceeding with your own change project• Team-building continues alongside the entire
training course
MODULE 2:
The differences between classic project management and agile project management are understood, and made clear and practical through a case study. The Scrum method and the Kanban theory are introduced as example procedures and critically examined. As they work through the case study (building a Lego residential estate for VIPs), participants learn what it means to use agile methods and work in a self-managed way in practice. And the issue of decision-making in self-managed teams is experienced first-hand.Practice materials for Professional Scrum Master PSM1 and Professional Scrum Product Owner PSPO1 exams are provided anddiscussed.
Goal
• Scrum and other agile project management methods• Differences between classic and agile project management• Experiencing and carrying out an agile project and
agile methods
Content • Decision-making in the agile context• Integrating agile approaches into classic project
management• Preparation for the PSM1 and PSPO1

MODULE 3:
CHANGE MANAGEMENT: CULTURES, ORGANISATIONS & INDIVIDUALS IN AN AGILE CONTEXT
Analysing culture and gaining an understanding of how culture comes about is the goal of this module. In doing so, it’s especially important to learn what makes an agile culture different. Participants’ own change situations are further examined, cultural phenomena discovered, and the organisation is studied in more depth. After a holistic examination of the organisation and culture, agility is integrated and cultural change concepts are made accessible for the everyday.
• Cultural analysis – Spiral Dynamics• Working out cultural phenomena and solutions• Organisational and cultural development and
change management
3 days, optional evening together
Goal
Content
Length
• Developmental phases of companies• What should you watch out for in agile organisations?• Forms of agile organisation• Designing the transition to agility
MODULE 4:
AGILE ROLES &LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLES
Participants reflect on various leadership styles in relation to agile approaches and self-managed teams. With reflection sessions, participants’ own (leadership) personality is situated and an understanding of agile leadership is deepened. The development of successful teams in agile environments as a leadership task is a core emphasis of this module. Closely related to leadership workand personality are coaching, team development and conflict moderation. After this module, participants will be able to distinguish between coaching and consultancy and have concrete tools to hand for developing coaching conversations. They have learned initial methods for intervening in team conflicts and thereby supporting individuals and groups to work togetherefficiently and effectively.
Goal
• Leadership approaches in classic management compared to the demands of agile teams.
• Reflections on participants’ own leadership personalities with respect to agile teams
• The leadership role and responsibility of an agile coach• Methods of empowerment and participation• What personalities does an agile team need, how can we
put a team together, and where do I stand?
Content • Differentiating between coaching and consultancy• Coaching formats: Listening, active listening and
rephrasing, circular questioning techniques• Bonding between the coach and ‘coachee’• Escalation model• Reconciliation and moderation pathways in team conflict • Team development methods
3 days, optional evening togetherLength
MODULE 5:
THE JOURNEY: REFLECTING PERSONALITY & COACHING TOOLS
Agile leadership requires an agile personality. In an intensive seminar, participants work with their own motives, strengths, feelings and patterns. A prerequisite for leading and supporting agile, self-managed teams is a reflective personality capable of dealing with conflict, with a high tolerance for ambivalence, and highly motivated towards self-development to keep exploring systematic relationships and increasingly inform your own functioning within them. In this module, the coaching techniques from Module 4 are applied to personal growth. Practice, practice, practice ...
Goal
• Analysing your own strengths and blockages• Foundations for communication: the four-ears principle,
sender-receiver model• Nonviolent communication (Rosenberg)• Dialogue (David Bohm)• My drivers, my ‘hot buttons’, and how to deal with them• Discovering and understanding belief systems• Establishing an inner team• Recognising repeating patterns, finding solutions• Appreciative Inquiry – discover and put into practice a
value-oriented mental framework
