  16. 16. The Game
  17. 17. Objective To: Gain an understanding of the basic principles of Agile Culture Gain an understanding of how behaviour and personality types can affect performance . Love it when a plan comes together
  18. 18. Pigs They are committed to the work. They are working in a pigpen with other pigs who also love their work When Agility is well set, they are all willing to put their flesh-on-the- table each day because they feel ownership of the work They are assertive and accountable for the success of the project and have a majority (if not all) of their performance goals linked directly to the success of the project and their specific Agile team They are involved, enganged to the project. In Scrum, its the purpose of the Scrum Team (Delivery Team, Scrum Master and Product Owner)
  19. 19. Chickens They come and go on the project While chickens are mostly helpful because they are contributing their eggs, they dont always understand the full context because they are not a dedicated team member So occasionally they may accidentally contribute a rotten egg They are not accountable for the success of the project, although they may have a small portion of their performance goals linked to the success of the project
  20. 20. Lets add the A-Team
  21. 21. Templeton "Face(man)" Peck Suave, smooth-talking, and hugely successful with women who serves as the team's con man and scrounger, as he is able to get his hands on just about anything they need
  22. 22. The agile Face Then they like to steal not only resources (Agile team members) for their own teams, but they also steal ideas from others They are not necessarily negative, because they are often so quiet in their manipulative work They are dedicated to their own success They like to stealthily move into and through the team seeing who has certain skills and ideas
  23. 23. Bosco Albert "B.A." Baracus His character is basically that of the public persona of Mr. T himself. He is a skilled fighter and is easily roused to anger, earning him the nickname "Bad Attitude"
  24. 24. The agile B.A. Sometimes referred to as bullies, they charge right into the team and attempt to direct them to their own work and often deviate the team from building product functionality Typically, they are not interested in the Agile mindset because they see it as a challenge to their authority (technical or managerial) or dont really understand or care about the business benefits of Agile, but instead want to maintain their own status They are command-and-control types who think they can continue to tell their folks what to do even though they are dedicated to their Agile teams
  25. 25. Howling Mad Murdock He was the best chopper pilot of the Vietnam War who is either mentally unstable or exceptionally good at pretending to be so. He routinely escapes to accompany the A-Team on their missions. The symptoms of his "insanity" varies, but generally includes self-identification with fictional characters, hallucinations, and frequently refers to his invisible dog, "Billy"
  26. 26. The agile Murdock They like to fly around the project and not really contribute in any manner They enjoy talking (mostly hearing themselves speak) and pretend they are adding value, but they are only annoying the Pigs (Agile team members) Often, they like to swoop in so it can look like they are involved (and theyll tell others this)
  27. 27. John "Hannibal" Smith Hannibal is the leader of the A-Team. He is a brilliant tactician and a master of disguise. Hannibal is distinguished by his cigar smoking, black gloves, disguises, and his catch phrase, "I love it when a plan comes together. Hannibal thrives on adventure and life-threatening situations), he seems to genuinely enjoy every situation they get into.
  28. 28. The agile Hannibal No team is complete without a leader However, in agile, it cannot be just any leader but instead a benevolent leader who is good to his team and ensure the team have what they need to grow and prosper The agile Hannibal encourages, inspires, and allows for team autonomy and self organisation
  29. 29. Tawnia Baker Tawnia was a relatively short-lived second-season character. She was a reporter who had heard of the team and helped the A-Team out a few times, although she never fully incorporated herself into the team
  30. 30. The agile Tawnia They are a lazy type on an agile team that really do not pitch in but instead like to hide in the background They are almost purposefully not assertive, have been used to just getting by on projects for years, and are not really interested in feeling ownership of the work. They typically neither positive nor negative and simply like to be left alone The other team members will begin to notice this behaviour and realise they are not really interested in becoming part of the team
  31. 31. Rules, Process, Constraints We will divide into teams Each team will be given a personality role to play as part of the table team The team in their new personality types will try and accomplish a task given to them from the facilitator The team has 10 minutes to see what happens After each round we will swarm the tables to debrief and guess each of the team members personality types and discuss observations. We will play 3 rounds followed by a group de-brief
  32. 32. Debrief
  33. 33. What happened? What did you observe? How did you feel? How would you tackle these behaviours? What have you learnt? What will you take away from todays session?
