ACTION Keeping Farmworkers Safe & Healthy April 2017 2017 AgSafe Conference Recap and Annual Meeting In Please check out the NEW and IMPROVED AgSafe Website! www.AgSafe.org To those of you who were able to join us for the AgSafe Annual Conference held February 28 through March 3, 2017 in Monterey, California, thank you for your attendance and participation in this extraordinary event. We hosted more than 800 participants from across the nation and delivered over 90 sessions in essential safety, health, human resources, leadership development, and food safety topics designed specifically for the food and farming industry. ere were a number of highlights throughout the four day conference including the keynote presentation delivered by NASA Engineer, Jose Hernandez. Jose shared his inspiring story to our captivated audience and took us on his journey beginning in the fields of San Joaquin and ultimately leading him to the stars. e AllWays Safe Awards, presented by AgSafe and DuPont, honored Duncan Family Farms, Strain Ranches, Juan Jose Zaldivar with Trilogy Personnel and Land Management, and Guadalupe Salcedo with Durst Organic Growers. Additionally a record number of people participated in AgSafe’s California Agricultural Safety Certificate Program at conference this year. This 16-hour program gives individuals a foundation in developing and maintaining a robust safety program. As always, we would like to thank our conference sponsors and instructors, as this event would not be possible without their dedication and support. AgSafe has kicked off 2017 with the unveiling of our new logo and website, as well as the launch of two new leadership programs. e redesigned and mobile friendly website features a number of tools and practical resources to assist the food and farming industry. e member only section of the website provides a number of easy to use templates for your business’s workforce needs. Information on how to access this portion of the website will be distributed to members during the month of May. Should you have any questions about how to navigate the site, please do not hesitate to contact the AgSafe office. And finally, during the AgSafe Annual Meeting held at the conference, Amy Wolfe, President and CEO announced the launch of our BEST and LEAD programs which are intensive leadership programs designed to coach midlevel managers in the soft skills needed to be an effective supervisor and team player. ese programs take place over a 6 to 18 month period and are customizable to meet the individual needs of your company. During the next several months AgSafe will be providing a number of educational opportunities in the areas of pesticide safety, heat illness prevention, and reasonable suspicion. Check the AgSafe Online Calendar to find a class near you. Also, many of our members have already participated in webinars presented by AgSafe, but if you have not had the opportunity – now’s your chance! Webinars are a cost effective way to provide quality trainings to your employees. To those of you who were able to join us for the AgSafe Annual Conference held February 28 through March 3, 2017 in Monterey, California, thank you for your attendance and participation in this extraordinary event. It will cover the short and long term physical, behavioral, speech, and performance indicators of potential alcohol or substance abuse. �e course is designed to equip supervisors with the tools necessary for determining whether reasonable suspicion exists and what to do when it is suspected in accordance to their company’s policies.

Sexual Harassment Prevention – Supervisor Training Webinar May 12 | 9:00AM –11:00AM | $50 | Course Length: 2 hours �is course meets the California requirements of AB 2053, abusive conduct law, and AB 1825, which requires employers with 50 or more employees to provide two hours of training to all supervisory employees once every two years, and annually for Farm Labor Contractor supervisors.Participants will be trained in the following topics:
