Global Steering Committee Purpose
The Global Steering Committee is a senior governance body that
oversees the strategic orientation of the Initiative and is composed
of representatives from across the memberships’ core
constituencies.
Its responsibilities are to:
• Identify, set and periodically review strategic objectives for UNEP
FI;
• Decide on the thematic and regional focus areas of UNEP FI
• Advise on and approve the UNEP FI Programme of Work
• Lead the preparation of the Initiative’s biannual Global
Roundtable;
• Actively disseminate/promote the work of UNEP FI

Global Steering Committee Key Points
• A senior position and the necessary decision-making authority
within their organizations
• Cannot be alternated or delegated except in special
circumstances
• Travel costs are covered by the institution and not the UNEP FI
• Meet by video/conference once a quarter and in-person at
least once a year
• At times, requested to represent the UNEP FI

MISSION STATEMENT:Accelerate the global development of financial institutions that integrate sustainability as a value creation driver and which contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
STRATEGY STATEMENT:Our strategy to achieve this mission is:• to create the most effective network for
sharing knowledge and best practice; and• to amplify the collective voice from the
finance sector in policy debate. Success is measured through the growth in the quantity and quality of “sustainable financial institutions”.
