LMSoc aspires to go beyond excellence in AGMM

On its 25th founding anniversary, the Legal Management Society (LMSoc) was aiming to go

beyond excellence as they present this year's operational plan in the Annual General

Membership Meeting (AGMM) last Aug. 29.

According to LMSoc adviser Atty. Antonio Chua, LMSoc was the first student organization in the

University to conduct a general assembly in a form of a non-stock and non-profit corporation

meeting.

"Since we (LMSoc) wants to train students to leadership and management, we would like to

equate the organization into a non-stock and non-profit corporation. We are going to make this

as an example to other societies and organizations on how a membership meeting should be

done," Chua said.

Vice presidents for external and internal affairs Meryll Guintu and Camille Grace Cariaga

presented the various planned activities and seminars of LMSoc, promoting academic,

leadership, community and total development in the quorum proper.

Enhancing the students’ knowledge in the fields of law and management, LMSoc proposed

Hope for Greeneration, human rights forum election law seminar, marriage & family Seminar

special criminal law seminar, current events in law and management seminar, Venture:

choosing the right business seminar, financial management seminar digital marketing and the

Legal Management (LM) tour as their projects in promoting academic enhancement.

Moreover, LMSoc wants to assess the knowledge of the students through the LM class clash,

debate series and business plan competition. It is also mentioned that the students would have

the opportunity to join inter-university competitions.

With its aim to produce effective leaders that would contribute and make impact in the society,

LMsoc offers the legal management leaders’ conference, leadership training seminars and

youth empowerment seminar for the leadership enhancement of students.

LMsoc also plans to have livelihood programs regarding basic financial management,

responsible agricultural practices and business expansion to develop the students’ community

involvement.

In efforts to help in the total development of the students, LMSoc will carry out the Law School

Forum, What’s Next? seminar, LM Awards Night, LM Exhibit, LM Sportsfest and alternative

classes in public speaking, social circle expansion and personal development

Collecting a total of P272, 000, LMSoc treasurer Iya Merilles and auditor Wency Reynes

assured this year’s fund is properly allocated for the pursuance of the mentioned projects in

their presentation of the budget proposal.

“The Legal Management Society’s projects for this academic year are congruent to our

university’s main goal which is to produce students who are competent, commited and

compassionate,” Cariaga said.

Former LMSoc vice president for internal affairs Miguel San andres had also presented the past

administration’s accomplishment last year.

After the quorum proper, LMSoc introduced heads and assistant heads of its different

comittees and guilds followed by the performances of Viva Voce and Lex Baile.

The AGMM is the annual general assembly of the LM students. Its goal is to promote

camaraderie among the LM students by the start of the school year and to present the officers

and the yearly projects of LMSoc. F
