The mission of Agora University is based on the initial vision of the founders, who chose as a
name, not coincidentally, a symbol of democracy. The democratic spirit of the Agora has
been and will be the guiding vector of its development and will bring in the future innovative
added value, dynamism and a harmonious development. In their vision, the founders
understood that encouraging the free and bold thinking and expression of students and
teachers and research in Agora, opening up to the co-opting of leading professionals and
external scientific and cultural figures, can lead to the achievement or even exceeding in a
short time the performances of larger academic institutions with a longer tradition.
Agora University is committed to transmitting to its students the spirit of the Agora, based on
the values of democracy and transdisciplinary humanism, a spirit that graduates, in turn, to
spread further in society. Starting from the present accumulations and capitalizing on the
internal potential, with openness to external collaborations, Agora University aims to add new
values to human knowledge, by promoting and encouraging research-development-
innovation, assuming a mission of education and scientific research, so that to become
recognized, in the Romanian and European academic environment, as an efficient model of
access to success through entrepreneurship.
Agora University aims to become a cultural and civic center, designed to contribute to the
formation and dissemination of national and universal culture values, to promote the
pluralism of options to the development of political and civic culture, and through its
graduates and its own scientific research to contribute to improving performance obtained by
the economic units from western Romania.

Evaluation and acreditation
Agora University is a young university (founded in 2000) - but dynamic and active, small (in
terms of number of students and staff) - but with prestigious national and international
collaborations. Instead of a quantitative development we prefer a qualitative one.
EUA-IEP Team about UAO: "The team has enjoyed learning about the characteristics of
Agora University and its role as an entrepreneurial providerof higher education in the
fields of law, management and social science. It has been an interesting experience to
discuss with staff, students, and external stakeholders the challenges faced by UAO and the
university’s efforts to address constraints and to explore future opportunities. We believe the
university has the potential to take successful steps in its next stage of development."

Research regulations
Regulation on the organization, functioning and financing of scientific research at
UAO level: PDF;
Regulations for carrying out scientific research activities of teachers: PDF
The strategic objectives regarding the research within the Agora University of Oradea,
considered in 2019, focused on:
- Development of human resources within the university by participating in various
research projects,
- Supporting young researchers, PhD students, from the university and supporting
them in order to get involved in internal projects within the university by developing scientific
communications and publishing in specialized journals
- Organizing scientific events through partnerships with other universities in the
country and abroad as well as with the business and institutional environment
- Organizing scientific events dedicated to students in order to improve their research
activity and their involvement in research activity at university level
- Participation of university teachers in a series of domestic and international scientific
events in their fields of research
All these objectives derive from the fact that all directions of action at the level of
universities have in view an efficient education, and this aspect presupposes a high level of
scientific research, in this case a highly qualified human resource.
Within the Agora University of Oradea, four international scientific events took place
in 2016 with the participation of teachers from the country and abroad and ten national
scientific events with the participation of teachers from the University Agora of Oradea and
from other universities in the country, but also people from the business and institutional
13
environment. Although it has few teachers, Agora University of Oradea, in addition to
education, has many research and development projects in various stages of development,
some carried out through the Agora Foundation.

Agora Foundation, in partnership with the Faculty of Legal Sciences, from the University of
Debrecen, Oradea Border Directorate and Bihor County Border Police Inspectorate, carried
out, between October 10, 2008 - August 10, 2009, a project entitled "Euroregional Center for
Depression. preventing and combating cross - border crime ". At the end of the
implementation period, the organizers drew the line, making known the activities carried out
in order to prevent, investigate and combat cross-border crime.
The project, carried out through PHARE program, with non-reimbursable financing, cost
54,750 euros, of which PHARE CBC grant 36,937 euros, non-reimbursable co-financing -
12,312 euros, respectively the beneficiary's contribution - 5,500 euros. Its objective is cross-
border cooperation between institutions, communities and non-governmental organizations in
Bihor and Hajdu-Bihar counties, with a view to sustainable development through direct
involvement in joint actions to reduce cross-border crime. During this period, various
activities took place, such as arranging and equipping the headquarters of the Regional Center
for Preventing and Combating Cross-Border Crime in the space provided by Agora
University. By arranging the center, a space was provided in which university teachers and
practitioners can organize working meetings during which participants have the opportunity
to present particularities of the work they carry out in different institutions. For this purpose,
two workshops with international participation were organized, which brought together over
80 specialists from the country and abroad. On Friday, the book "Cross-border crime on the
border between present and future" was presented, available in 300 copies. (Source:

The Faculty of Legal and Administrative Sciences within the Agora University of Oradea
organizes the annual Agora International Law Conference “Prospects and Challenges of 21st
Century Law” (AILC), 14th edition, year 2020.
The conference takes place in parallel sessions with topics specific to the disciplines in the
field of law in which the novelties appeared in the legislation, as well as their impact on the
judicial practice. At the same time, every year we included in the conference program a
section through which we brought to the attention of the participants also topics of
comparative law.
Interdisciplinarity in the field of legal sciences is valued through a special section entitled
"The role of interdisciplinarity in legal sciences" and the transition from the history and
dynamics of legislation to the construction of social capital in law is expected to be discussed
in a section proposed it in 2019 in the conference program entitled "Legal sciences in the
context of sustainable development".
Articles accepted for support at the conference are published in AGORA International Journal

Internaţional Symposium ”Brainstorming în Agora Students’ Circle”,
BACStud
The International Symposium “Brainstorming in the Agora of Student Circles”, in its fifth
edition (1st edition - here, 2nd edition - here, 3rd edition - here, 4th edition - here) is part of
the logic and practice of education student-centered, as a continuation of student involvement
in projects, mobility and entrepreneurial activities. This symposium aims to create a friendly
meeting environment, a bridge between students and mentoring teachers with similar
concerns, from all over the country, but also with international expansion, for future
collaborations. The best papers presented at the BACStud2019 symposium, following a
qualitative selection, will be published in the UAO “Agora International Journal of Masters
Studies”.
This symposium will be a good opportunity for students from various university centers to
exchange opinions, opinions, knowledge, but also to make future collaborations and friends.
In addition to the student sections, there will be a section for students, and an international
section in English for students and pupils. (Simona Dzitac - main organizer)
