June 30 th    July 6 th  30 th West Indies Agricultural Economic Conference Hyatt Regency Hotel Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago The Caribbean Agro-economic Society (CAES) and the Caribbean Food Crops Society (CFCS) are jointly hosting the 30 th Agricultural Economic Conference. These conferences have been a regular forum for dialogue, communicating agricultural research findings and promoting economic consideration of agriculture’s contributions to sustainable development and have seen the CAES partner more with Ministers of Agriculture and international and regional institutions. Under the theme “Agribusiness Essential for Food Security: Empowering Youth and Enhancing Quality Products” this year’s sub-themes for papers/presentations include Enhancing quality for food security; Value chain for sustainable agribusiness; Tertiary education for food and nutrition security; Price volatility; Agro-tourism; Risks to food and agriculture; and Global impact of food and nutrition insecurity. For further details, contact: Mr Edric Harry <[email protected]> For more info, visit: http://www.caestt.com/aboutus.htm Tues 2 nd    Thur 4 th  3 rd International SIDS Conference   Caribbean Region Preparatory Meeting Jamaica In 2013, national and regional preparatory meetings will convene to develop inputs for the Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS), to be held from 1-4 September 2014 in Apia, Samoa. These preparatory meetings will be held in the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and South China Sea (AIMS) region, Caribbean region and Pacific region, as well as inter-regionally. The International SIDS Conference aims to further attention and consideration to the special challenges and unique vulnerability to sustainable development being faced by SIDS, and so form a framework for cooperation and action to address these. The 2014 conference will focus on assessing the progress to date and the remaining gaps in the implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for the further implementation of the programme of action for sustainable development of SIDS. Representatives of CARICOM Member States will be meeting in Jamaica ahead of another meeting in Barbados later this year to prepare for the Conference. Cottage Food and Beverage Cluster: Breakfast Seminar Wed 10 th July, 2013 Cara Suites Hotel, Trinidad and Tobago ExporTT’s Cottage Food and Beverage Cluster is hosting a free session for local, small-scale food or beverage producers interested in export markets. The session will include informative presentations for preparing small-s cale producers to meet the requirement s of export markets. Seminar topics include manufacturing for export; sourcing funds; standards and product testing, marketing, packaging and labelling and information on services being made available to exporters from trade support institutions. Deadline for registration is Mon 8 th July 2013.
