Paul UysThe Food Institute, University of Guelph
Paul’s professional experience spans 40 years in retail. In 1987 he was recruited from South Africa by Loblaw Companies Limited, to head the fledgling product development department responsible for the company’s emerging Control labels. Later as Vice President Innovation, Paul was responsible for many highly successful branding initiatives, most notably the
launch of President’s Choice Organics, PC Blue Menu & PC “Free From” line-up. During his latter days at Loblaw’s, he was tasked with the creation & management of the Loblaw Sustainable Seafood Commitment, as well as other sustainable procurement initiatives. In 2013, after 25 years, Paul retired from Loblaw Companies, and accepted the role as Senior Director, External – The Food Institute, University of Guelph. He is also an advisor to WWF - , as well as holding a number of director positions, most recently having joined the Livestock Research Innovation Corporation (LRIC) as a board member.
Don SchiefelbeinSchiefelbein Farms Kimball, Minnesota
Don’s father and his 8 brothers and their families own a large diversified farming operation that includes
4500 acres owned for pasture and cropping and 800 registered Angus cows. They host a spring bull sale
with 300 Angus and Hybrid bulls selling along with some elite heifers up. They have a unique Buy Back
calf program and buy back 25,000 calves from bull buyers for their feedlot each year. Don is the chief financial officer for the
farm and coordinates the genetic program for the Scheifelbein herd, he also manages the promotion and advertising. Don graduated from Texas
A&M with a degree in Animal Science.
Jake FreestoneOverbury Farms, Gloucestershire, UK
Jake currently manages the in-hand farming operations for Penelope Bossom trading as Overbury Farms on the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire border. The farm totals 1560 ha and comprises arable crops, land let for vegetable production (potatoes, peas and salad onions) and permanent grassland. The grass carries a flock of 1000 ewes. Level Stewardship scheme, started in January 2011. In October 2012 Jake was awarded a Nuffield Farming Scholarship, to study the possibilities of growing 20 T/ha of wheat in the next 20 years.

While working for the cooperative system in Paraná State, Brazil for 20 years, Nadiel did post-graduation in Agribusiness, Food Chains and Leadership. Today
he is self-employed working as a Consultant on Communication, corporate events organization, training
programs, institutional and commercial relationships and technical inbound and outbound tourism. Married to Eliane a music teacher for (almost) 39 years, he has two children. Vinícius,
an agronomist and Ana Lucia, an administrator and partner besides two lovely grandsons.
Youth TourOur youth program is a fully supervised day long session geared towards young people 9 to 16. The youth listen to engaging speakers, participate in hands on activities, demonstrations and tours focusing on agriculture and life on campus. A hot lunch and refreshments are provided.
