he agri-export sector in the country with its vast potential has emerged

as one of the major drivers of economic growth. Focused towards

strengthening the country's agri-export potential, APEDA carefully

formulated the following activities:

To develop industries related to the scheduled products for

export, by way of providing financial assistance or otherwise by

undertaking surveys and feasibility studies, participation in

enquiry capital through joint ventures and other relief and

subsidy schemes;

To register persons as exporters of the scheduled products on

payment of such fees as may be prescribed;

To fix standards and specifications for the scheduled products for

the purpose of exports;

To carry out inspection of agri-export products and meat

products for the purpose of ensuring the quality of such

products;

To improve the packaging of the scheduled products;

To improve the marketing of the scheduled products outside

India;

To promote export oriented production and development of the

scheduled products;

To provide training in various aspects to industries connected with

the scheduled products.

To introduce to the world, the Best Produce of India. APEDA's

“Quality Produce of India” logo is a mark of pride and reliability.

nhancement in export competitiveness has direct correlation with the

upgradation of existing infrastructure. To enable India to become a

major player in the global food market, it is important to develop and

market internationally competitive products and services. APEDA

realizes its responsibility towards export lead growth and has thus

initiated various developmental programmes

These include:

Introducing better farming

techniques, setting up centers for perishable cargo at airports

and seaports, development of pack houses, setting up auction

centers for flowers, up gradation of laboratories for testing &

research work, formulation of software to trace the origin of the

product to the farm level.

Product quality is a prime criterion in

gaining access to competitive markets. APEDA takes stringent

measures to ensure the implementation of sound regulatory

policies, licensing and certification like HACCP, CODEX, Residue

Monitoring Plans, India GAP, etc.

Setting up of an efficient and

robust supply chain requires innovation and dissemination of

information on new concepts and technology. APEDA regularly

organizes awareness and training workshops for growers and

exporters to create value added products.

To enhance interaction between the producers and

exporters and to provide international trade information at the

click of a button, APEDA has launched its portal titled

“Indian Agri Trade Junction”.

mbarking on an ambitious plan to double country's exports, APEDA

has put into action new corporate strategies, tools, services and

realigned the existing programmes. It is making concentrated efforts

to develop and implement initiatives that address constraints faced by

exporters and is aiming at reducing the risk of doing business

overseas.

APEDA offers financial assistance under various schemes to augment

India's agri-exports and to make it competitive as a whole. Financial

assistance is available to exporters, producers and trade associations

under the following schemes:

Scheme for Market Development

Scheme for Infrastructural Development

Scheme for Quality Development

arge scale commercial development of agri and food products has

given rise to acute competition amongst the exporting countries

wherein all are making concentrated efforts to maximize their share in

the major world markets.

Realizing the need to develop a better rapport between the traders

and the officials in the importing countries, APEDA has drawn up

various market promotion programmes for projecting our country's

resource potential, product diversification, quality assurance and our

liberal trade incentives.

For this purpose APEDA initiates talks with various countries, invites

delegations to conduct conformity tests, organizes buyer-seller meets,

provides assistance for market development, sponsors delegates to

other countries, participates in national and international trade fairs

and provides publicity through print and electronic media.
