Weather Advisory Bulletin – Chennai District (Period 24th to 28th June 2015)
A. Weather for the past four days (19.06.2015 to 22.06.2015)
During past four days around Chennai area, the sky was partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with
2.5 mm of rainfall. Maximum temperature was 30.0-38.0°C and Minimum temperature was 27.0-
29.0oC. Wind speed was 7-8 km per hour. Relative humidity was recorded between 42-80%.

Livestock:
1. Light rainfall is expected on 27.06.2015.
2. Due to increase in day temperature animals should not be allowed for grazing during
hot part of the day, provide cool drinking water and shade to the animals to reduce
heat stress.
3. Sheep, goats and young calves should be dewormed by using suitable anthelmintics.
4. Repeat breeder will be supplemented with 50 grams of mineral mixture and high
protein diet daily to improve the conception rate.
5. After calving newborn calves should be fed with colostrum within one hour of
delivery, navel cord will be tied with thread leaving one inch from abdomen and
apply betadine/ tincture iodine solution.
Agriculture :Imp.Crops: Rice, Sugarcane and Groundnut
Rain-fed Groundnut crops: Growing stage.
1. Weeding operation should be carried out in the groundnut crops.
2. Incidence of pod borer, shoot and leaf webber is being noticed in summer sesame due to
the prevailing hot weather condition. To control this, spray Quinolphos 25 EC at 400
ml/acre or Neem oil 2%.
3. Stem borer incidence is noticed in paddy crop. Hence farmers are advised to spray any one
of the following Monocrotophos 36 SL 1000ml/ha (or) Quinalphos 25 EC1000 ml/ha (or)
Phosphamidon 40 SL 600 ml/ha (or) Profenophos 50 EC 1000 ml/ha.
