Tillage and Crop ProductionN.R. Das
Production of crops is directly connected with tillage systems and this tillage system is also
helpful for reduction of cost of crop production. Therefore, cropping system may be
regulated with the changes of tillage operations. Now-a-days, zero tillage, minimum tillage,
no-tillage paira/utera system, stubble-mulch tillage etc. are in vogue, and as a result, higher
crop-production is possible, with low cost, though tillage practices differ from place-to-place
and crop-to-crop.
With the new ideas and concepts, this book 'Tillage and Crop Production', has been written
for the development of agriculture in the country, with 12 chapters, having (i) Introduction,
(ii) Tillage and tilth, (iii) Types and methods of tillage, (iv) Factors affecting tillage, (v)
Tillage implements, (vi) Effects of Tillage, (vii) Tillage in relation to crop production, (viii)
Tillage vs. irrigation and fertilization, (ix) Tillage for crops, croppings and situations, (x)
Tillage, crop production and production economics, (xi) Financial aspect of tillage-crop
management, (xii) Important information on crop production.
The book will be very useful for the undergraduate and postgraduate students of all
agricultural universities of the country. This book will also be helpful to all ICAR research
institutes and all agricultural departmental farms of all States of the country

Agrotechnology for Dryland Farming
New Ed.
Arvind M. Dhopte
This book deals with seed, soil, watersheds, crop, weed and nutrient management use of weather
forecast, measure to save crops under abiotic stresses like drought and flooding, selection of
crops & variety, reclamation of degraded land, organic recycling, agro-meterological approaches,
water requirement, early harvest on physiological maturity, agrohydro modelling and suitable
medicinal and aromatic crops to make dry farming remunerative for welfare of common farmers.
Chapters are written by eminent scientists of national repute who have devoted their life time to
solve probable problems of dryland. Agrotechniques can well be adopted with ease by farmers
through extension agencies to avoid bankrupsy. Long outstanding demand has thus fulfilled
with this book.
The book entitled "Key to Success in Agriculture" for competitive examination in agricultural
discipline contains 13 chapters covering all related disciplines. This book has given due
importance and whole syllabus covered as per ICAR and SAU's programmes in relation to
agriculture. Each chapter is containing the semester wise multiple choice questions and total
more than 7000 objective questions with multiple choices have been framed and arranged
sequentially for the easy understanding of the students. Recent informations and development
of the field of B.Sc. and M.Sc. Agriculture have been incorporated in the text. This book is
primarily intended to serve as a appearing in competitive examinations of undergraduate, post
graduate and doctorate programmes in agriculture of various universities. Thus, this book is
based on the syllabus of student of agriculture of various universities. It will be useful not only to

Practical Manual on Basic Agronomy(With Theory)
Das, N.R.
This book has been written in short, as a 'practical text book' in Agronomy subject, based on
theoretical background, for thorough knowledge of that subject, after a long teaching experience
in the universities. Practical classes, with lesson numbers have been fitted, immediately after
theoretical discussions, in different sub-chapters in Chapters, on the same studies. The lesson,
has been divided into 'Introduction', 'Objective', 'Materials required' & 'Procedure'. In some
cases, 'assignments' have also been given.

Fertilizer and Plant Nutrition Guide
The Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) had published its "Handbook on Fertiliser Usage", a
comprehensive source of information which came closest, among all other known works of that nature,
to the requirements of FAO in its service to its member countries. It is hoped that this Bulletin will at
least partially fill the need for such a publication. Suggestions for possible improvements and
additions for a future version of the Bulletin will be most welcome.

Biofertilizer TechnologyS. Kannaiyan, K. Kumar & K. Govindarajan
This book ‘Biofertilizer Technology for Rice Based Cropping System’ deals with the current develop-ments in the basic and applied aspects of biofertilizers used in the rice based cropping including thenovel endophytic diazotrophs viz., Azorhizobium caulinodans, Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus,Pink Pigmented Facultative Methylotrophs (PPFM) etc. The role of P, Zn and Si solubilizers in thenutrient dynamics of the rice ecosystem has also been covered. The strategies for production anddistribution of quality inoculants for rice based cropping system has been given due importance with afocus on the molecular approaches for rapid and reliable quality control of biofertilizers. This book canbe considered as a monograph on the usage of biofertilizers in rice based cropping system. It will bevery useful for the scientists, researchers, students and extension workers involved in themanagement of crops in rice based cropping system.
Upland Rice in IndiaSingh, R.K. & Singh, C.V.
This book presents a comprehensive account of upland rice cultivation in different states of India.
Upland rice system is considered as most diverse of all rice systems and each states of the country
grow different varieties under a range of management conditions and cropping patterns. The 23
chapters in the book consolidate and share the knowledge on rainfed upland rice cultivation practiced
in different states. It analyzes the upland rice agro-ecosystem in different states and encompasses
various aspects of integrated nutrient management, pest management, varieties available and newer
technologies introduced for adoption by farmers to improve the productivity of this fragile ecosystem.

Fertilizer ManualNew
It is designed to replace the UN Fertilizer Manual published in 1967 and intended to be a
reference source on fertilizer production technology and economics and fertilizer industry
planning for developing countries. The aim of the new manual is to describe in clear, simple
language all major fertilizer processes, their requirements, advantages and disadvantages and
to show illustrative examples of economic evaluations. The new manual uses internationally
accepted terminology, and all data are in metric units but not necessarily SI units. Special
emphasis is given to the economics of fertilizer production. In comparison with the previous
manual, the treatment of phosphate fertilizers and compound fertilizers has been greatly
expanded. New chapters have been added on controlled release fertilizers and the physical
properties of fertilizers. The scope of treatment of nitrogen fertilizers is about the same as in the
previous manual, but extensive updating has been necessary.

Wheat Crop ManagementDas, N.R.
Wheat, the second cereal crop, is very important in India, because it is the staple food of most of
the people of northern, western and central India, where winter is long or medium in duration.
Now, with the arrival of dwarf wheat, it is grown in eastern parts of India also, where winter
duration is short. Though huge amount of research works, on different aspects, are being done in
different parts of the country, but management oriented book on wheat, is rare. Therefore, on
management view points, the book entitled, `Wheat Crop Management' has been written in 17
chapters covering new strategies for wheat production improvements. Besides this, 138 tables
and 22 figures, have been added to it. This book will be useful to both the undergraduate and
postgraduate students of Agronomy of all the agricultural colleges/universities. This book will
also be useful for students, Research Institutes run by ICAR, Students of the agricultural
